I've probably used dozens of brushes (cleaning mine and customers guns) and haven't had any problems with a brush turning green. I'm not doubting you, I'm just guessing maybe its your cleaning agent. Hoppes #9 will do you right. If a firearm isn't very fouled up I'll just use nylon brushes which work well. I reserve the various metal brushes for the heavily fouled firearms.
