Before I get blasted, I will state that I do own a M1 12 gauge that I love. I would rather have a 16 gauge Benelli but considering that point mute, I will have to buy elsewhere. Does anyone currently shoot a 870 Wingmaster in 16 gauge? I am considering one. Every gun that I currently has is an autoloader but I might as well be different with a 16 gauge. Any help appreciated. Chasman,
Considering your needs for a shotgun, I would suggest a M1 field in 12 gauge with a 26 or 28" barrel. I currently have a M1 in black synthetic and love it. I would lean toward synthetic if you plan to hunt hard. If you need a 3.5" shell, go with the Super Black. I love the balance of the M1 and it is designed to hold up. But make sure the gun fits you right. If you don't hunt alot, I would suggest a Beretta in a 390 or 391 model. Recoil would be a little less due to the gas system. Good luck on your choice.

I really love my M1 12 gauge but recently traded my M1 20 gauge in for a Beretta 390 due to the recoil and it was too whippy. I really love the 390 so far. It is balanced well and recoil is non-existant. Benelli 12 gauge guns are excellent but feel the 20 gauge models are too light for the recoil. This is why I would love to see Benelli build a 16 gauge on a true 16 gauge frame around 6.5 pounds. This would give hunters a good choice with less weight than a 12 gauge.

Was curious to know if Benelli will make a 16 gauge and to hear from current 16 gauge owners as to whether they like the gauge or not? Currently own a M1 IN 12 GAUGE but really consider it a little heavy for long carry. I think a 16 gauge on a true 16 gauge frame would be perfect. [email protected]

Would Like to know how people feel about a possible 16 gauge Benelli? I currently have a 12 gauge M1 and love it. I mainly use it for ducks. I consider it too heavy for upland. I have tried a M1 in 20 gauge but found it too light and whippy. I think a 16 gauge would be perfect if it is in the mid 6lb. range and built on a true 16 frame. Remington is bringing back the 1100 16 gauge but it is nothing more than a 16 barrel on a 12 gauge frame which defeats the purpose. A 16 should be lighter than a 12. A 12 gauge will always be the most versatile and a 20 gauge is a great gun for many but a 16 gauge is best for upland. How does the majority feel?
Renington 1100 16 Gauge! Does anyone have one?

Was curious to know if anyone has one of the new 1100 16 gauges, in particular the wood stock Classic Field model? I have one on order that I should get next week. I can hardly wait. If so, what do you think of the gun? After this purchase, I should be complete for awhile. I already have two 12 gauges and a 20. I got the 16 because it was someting different. I have always heard that they are great for upland/small game.
