[Nova vs Super Nova 12ga]

My son is 13 and shoots trap league at the local rod and gun. He uses the Rem 870 12ga 26" barrel and does fairly well on his team. The last few times out he has been complaining of some shoulder soreness after two rounds of 5 station trap (50 shells). My question.....is the Nova with Recoil reducer better for reducing recoil than the straight up Super Nova 12ga? Thanks!!
