  1. I'm fairly new to shotguns, having only done sporting clays until a month ago when I bought my M4.

I've been shooting mostly slugs, and well, the Winchester 1600 FPS 1oz Rifled Slug (X12RS15VP) only fits 4 rounds in the 5 round Benelli magazine tube.

My M4 H20 is 100% stock (no modifications).

NIce slug, shoots well, and never a mis-feed to date, but my Federal 2 3/4 Vitol Shok 1 1/4oz slug rounds fit 5, and my Armscore 12 gauge 00 buck fit 5, and other 2 3/4 have fit.

I just shot the Winchester slugs for the first time today and found out they don't fit 5.

  2. Makes sense.

I just shot my M4 this past weekend for the first time. I put about 100 rounds through, all lead, 4 buck, BB, & slugs at an indoor range. 2 3/4" and 3". Not a single misfeed.

    Thanks for the reply..

  3. I think the cerakote is a nice finish, and as I don't plan on keeping it in a case all its life, the finish will get scuffed over time. Maybe some day I'll redo it to another cerakote color scheme :)

24 hours though? Benelli does warranty the firearm, if there's a problem with the finish give them a call?

  4. Old thread, but I'm a new Benelli M4 H20 owner. I'm satisfied with my purchase of the M4 for home defense and range.

I'm not law enforcement or military and decided that it is the better option due to FNH SLP's interchangeable gas pistons, among other reasons, for my use. The Benelli M4 is a simpler design in this respect.

I was tempted to get the longer barrel FNH offering for versatility.

  5. Thanks for the response NoTycoon. I went through a bit of crash course in chokes, ammo, and availability of ammo this past week. I've only shot sporting clays with my 20 gauge over/under using 1 modified and 1 improved modified prior. It's good fun with this nice light shotgun.

Anyway, unable to find personal defense ammo online today, I did manage to find rounds of 2 3/4 1oz rifled slugs, some #4 buck, a box of 00 buck,  and a box of magnum BB locally.

As soon as the outdoor range opens again I plan to break the firearm in. Is there a preferred "break in" round?  I'm thinking quality hi-load target?

  6. This M4 H20 is my first 12 gauge shotgun, my other is a Franchi 20 gauge over/under imported by Benelli USA (bird gun) which I use for sporting clay fun.

When I started looking into tactical shotguns, semi-auto, it didn't take much time to figure out this was a top quality option. In my opinion the M4 rules the roost in this category, and I believe I'll have confidence it will simply work (after being broken in).  So I found one on Gunbroker, and bought it. I actually bought it twice on Cabelas, but they cancelled my order twice after running out of stock.

Standard stock model (no pistol grip), and It'll arrive later this week.

Now I need a place to shoot it, all the local ranges are closed.
