The old model from like 15 years ago shipped with the wrong thread pitch screws and caused damage. The new ones should be fine. The saddle may leave some marks on the side of your receiver. The unit has a rubberized pad to help protect the finish, but it can still cause burnishing.

Personally, I'd go with a velcro system over the Mesa saddle.

Thanks, that’s what I was thinking as well so I bought the Esstac cards. I cleaned the metal, heated it, applied the Velcro, and still it pealed right off after removing the card several times

  2. Hello,

I’ve heard conflicting reports about whether or not the Mesa Tactical Side Saddle will damage my M4. Is there a group consensus on this?

the company said the old style that screws in thru the sides can cause damage, but the one that goes in from the top with the Pic rail would not damage to gun at all.

is this accurate? I really wanted one, but then hesitated when I read about the damage it can do

  3. That is the question...

Hey everyone, new M4 owner here and new to firearms in general.
Recently picked up my M4, and about to install a bunch of stuff on it and wanted some guidance or best practices as to where I should use Loctite, and where I shouldn’t?

I'm installing a mil spec rail from FFT. A trijicon mount on that. An SRO on that.

also an IWC light mount with a surefire light.

Should any/all of these components use Loctite?

    Thanks everyone!

  4. New M4 owner here. Just picked up my optic (SRO) and all other goodies for my new Benelli. Had the Larue mount ordered since last week, and just found out it’s now been back ordered and out of stock for at least the next 2 months!

I don’t wanna wait that long. Anyone have one they’re looking to part with, know where I can buy one, or can recommended a similar mount of equal quality??

I know the Scalarworks makes one, but I think it sits a little too low for my liking. I liked the idea of the SRO on the Larue, on the FFT mil spec rail.

    10403

Thanks! Does the 10403 pad line up flush and fit perfectly??

The customer service rep at Limbsaver told me the only model that fits the M4 is the slip on model.

I have the non collapsible, non pistol grip stock

You may want to reconsider using the Larue mount if you're using the factory pic rail since it's been documented to damage Larue QD mounts.

If you decide to change course, ADM makes a dandy quick release for your optic.

    Hhmmm is that the case?

I also ordered the Mesa shell carrier and was gonna mount all on that - but now I’m reconsidering the shell carrier.

it looks super cool, but adds lots of weight, and as primarily a tool use for home defense and fun at the range not sure I want the shell carrier.

So is it just the Larue mount that gets destroyed by the stock rail? This won’t happen to other mounts?

I say a 7rd tube, A and S trigger guard, and impact weapons light mount, and a taran carrier

Tube is illegal in my state. I’m fine with the stock trigger guard.

impact mount & light on the way along with Trijicon SRO & Larue mount
