Fitting an M4 stock to an M1

I bought a pistol grip butt stock for my M1 on eBay. However, it's apparently made for an M4. It has a bolt already installed inside the butt stock. If I can get that out, I think I can adapt it for my M1. Any ideas on how to remove the bolt inside the M4 butt stock with the pistol-grip?
