SBE II Camo Finish--Does it provide any real extra protection?

Just bought a new SBEII in the Max4D camo finish. I was wondering, the finish appears to provide an extra layer of protection to the elements--specifically rust. Is there any truth to this or is it just an illusion?

 

Shot it out of the box today at ducks and geese--incredible accuracy with heavy shot #4 with a modified choke. Very impressed!
