  1. took out the spanking new monte today,,,,WOW what a gun. 12Ga, 28" bbl shot 50 rounds of 3.75dr powder 1 1/4 oz load shot 50 rounds of 3.25dr powder 1 1/8 oz load shot 25 rounds light target 2.75dr powder 1 1/8 oz load shot 25 rounds extra light 2.75dr powder 1oz load cycled all loads beutifully, from the heavy break-in loads to the extra light target loads, which my remi1100 would have never shot even on its best day. and to top it all off, my best day shooting clays ever! did not keep track,,, but every bit of 80% or better for hits. once again wow! what a gun "performance worth the price" hit more clays with just throwing the gun up with both eyes open then when i tried with one eye closed focused in on the bead. just threw it up and can't miss. i love my Monte!!!!!
  2. how about some reasoning there NovaMan. i considered the SBE, but choose the Monte, my reasonings,,,, even the 24"synthetic stocked SBE is heavier than the Monte, 3.5" rounds,,,dont like'em, i think they are a marketing ploy to satisfy the i got the biggest on the block syndrom. 95% of the time this weapon will shoot 2.75 light loads. remington express magnum loads, 12GA 00,, as per thier site http://www.remington.com/ammo/ballistics/shotshell/buckshot.htm 3.5" has a velocity of 1125 ft/sec 3" has a velocity of 1225 ft/sec 2.75" has a velocity of 1290 ft/sec so they are not more powerfull as the major misconception leads you to belive, and another reason i dont want one [ 03-07-2004, 10:22 AM: Message edited by: MonteGreg ]
  3. longer barrel verses shorter barrel, the question of the decade. just got my new monte today, with the 28 inch barrel. my theory is this,, longer barrel takes longer to swing and get on point, but tracks easier when up to speed, and helps with the follow through (ducks and rabbits) shorter barrell, swings fast and aquires target even faster, allowing to sometimes overlead moving targets. and being lighter/shorter tend to not follow through properly. my 2c
  4. just got it today, will be used mostly for birds, sometimes ducks, possible deer or two. my Question is,,,,,, Break in precedure? seen somewhere to shoot in new auto's. views? tips? comments?
