  1. Further I did not have any problems with the safety. The carriage release or "close button" was a little stiff but worked ok. No problems shooting 2 3/4 one ounce loads at the skeet range.
  2. Last night I shot the new SBE II with the Comfort tech stock at my gun club. It had arrived earlier in the day. I did not find any problems with the choke. The recoil was less than the the SBE I had shot earlier. However after shooting the SBE II a friend let me shoot an old Winchester Model 12. The felt recoil appeared to be the same as the SBE II. I did notice that the Winchester seemed to be better balanced and I had no trouble getting 24 out of 25 on the trap range. The one miss was due to lack of concentration.
  3. After several hundred rounds on the trap range with a SBE my thumb was really sore from having to repeatedly push the close button to chamber a round. Tom Knapp said on his forum that he had replaced the factory "close" button. Has any one else experienced difficulty with this button? Does it loosen up after a while? Most of my shooting will be on clays and the hard to use button can become irksome.

    Close Button

I ordered a Supersport several months ago. Since then I shot a friends SBE at the trap range. Found the button used to close and chamber the shell very stiff. After a 100 rounds my thumb was getting pretty sore. I went to all of the dealers in my area and tried the buttons on the guns they had. Same problem. Tom Knapp responded to a query I had and said he replaced the close button. Am waiting to find out what kind. You would think that since he shoots the Benelli more than anyone else, the Benelli folks would fix this problem. Does anyone know of a fix? Does it eventually wear in? 90% of my shooting will be on clays and fighting the button all day gets irksome. He also said that Benelli is working on an adjustable comb for us trap shooters. One of the dealers locally said the comb on the new stocks already has this feature. Nothing in the catalogue. Presently I am debating whether to wait for the fixes before actually buying the gun. If I do get it next month as promised wonder if I will have to buy a new stock or if the one it comes with can be altered.
