  1. They basically loop around the barrel using two tabs. I have one on my 590A1. You can see the tabs on the pictures of them. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1843264926 I would think they could pretty much be a universal fit to several shotguns as long as the barrel profile is very similar. The tabs could be bent a little for different diameters. The hard part will be finding a factory mossberg one in stock. There are aftermarket ones available, but they do not look as good as the factory mossberg ones.
  2. I ended up just buying the M1 with the short mag tube. I was not having any luck finding the pistol grip stock in stock anywhere. Plus it had the screw in choke barrel. I could find mag extensions pretty easy. The mag tube is two piece like most other shotguns. It ends at the front of the foregrip and it is held on by the mag tube extension/nut. Figured I would update just in case someone else stumbles across this and wonders the same.
  3. So I am looking at a couple older HK marked M1 Super 90's for sale. I am trying to find out about the magazine tubes on them. One has the full length mag tube that is almost the same length as the barrel, and the other has a shorter mag tube that extends only a couple inches past the fore grip. I have a older HK marked M3 Super 90, and the full length mag tube on it, is all one piece. What I am wanting to know, is are the M1's the same way? Is the mag tube one piece, or is it two piece like most other shotguns out there? I tried to search online but did not find a answer, however I did see mag tube extensions labeled for the M1, so that would make me think they are two piece? Reason I ask, is my M3 is HK marked, has the pistol grip stock, ghost ring sights, and full length mag tube, and I want a M1 in the exact same configuration. The M1 I found with the full length mag tube, has the standard/rifle style stock and cylinder bore barrel, while the one with the shorter mag tube has the pistol grip stock, but also has the barrel with screw in chokes (which I really like and want). So I was just curious if the mag tube is two piece making for a easy swap to a full length mag tube on the one that currently has the short tube.
  4. Interesting. But now the difficult part will be finding or figuring out a equil to what they used to glue it on with.
  5. Please do not take this the wrong way, but do you have any proof of this? Have you or someone you know taken the barrel retaining ring off a benelli barrel? Its not that I dont believe you, I just want hard evidence to prove it.
  6. Yes, there is the machining of the new ring, but most good gunsmiths are also machinist, as most all I have seen have lathes and mills. So assuming a new ring could be made, could this be done? So the barrel ring is not welded/brazed/soldered, but instead glued on with a type of compound? Is it something like super JB weld?
  7. I was wondering if something like this could be possiable? What I have: Benelli M3 Super 90, HK marked, 18.5 in ghost ring barrel. What I want: The same barrel but with screw in chokes. Here is the problem: The M3 18.5 in barrel was never offered with screw in chokes (only the longer field barrels were, and I do not want one of those) However, the M1 Super 90 was offered with a 18.5 in barrel with screw in chokes. Looking at pictures, they appear to be identical at the chamber end and will fit the recievers, however the barrel retaining ring is in a different spot on the two. The M3 ring is about 2 inches more forward than the M1 ring, and naturally it is shaped differently. What I am wondering, is could it be possiable to take a M1 barrel in the configuration I want (18.5in, ghost ring, screw in choke) and remove the barrel retaining ring. Then reproduce a copy of the M3 barrel rataining ring and attach it to the M1 barrel? Does anyone know how the rings are attached to the barrels from the factory? It kinda almost looks like some type of solder or brazing. Could something like this be done by a capable gunsmith? Thanks.
  8. Still for sale, added a possiable trade offer.
  9. The specific model I am wanting is proving to be quite difficult to locate...... Still looking.
  10. It doesnt have the pistol grip stock, but does have the ghost ring sights. What does he mean by factory mag extension or stock mag tube? Is it not a one peice tube? The nut holding the barrel on look a little different than mine. Edit, just noticed it looks like he is in CA, is this some type of a CA specific model that had a shorter mag tube?
  11. Don't suppose you would want to sell the H&K marked one would you? Sounds like your not as big of a fan of it as the newer one.
  12. Being the one peice mag tube does not really bother me. Mine has it and I have never had a need to remove it. Off topic question, what happened to the trigger group and barrel-to-mag clamp on the middle shotgun in your pic?
  13. Not sure if I am following your question? The factory owners manual for my M3 shows 3 different models. It shows the standard, with the rifle sights and rifle stock (like mine), then it shows the tactical, with the pistol grip stock and ghost ring sights (the one I want) and then shows the model with the folding stock (wich I personally do not care for)
  14. Looking to buy a early H&K marked M3 tactical. Must have factory ghost ring sights, 18.5in barrel, 7+1 mag, and the pistol grip stock. I currently have a H&K marked M3 but it has the standard stock and rifle sights. I LOVE this shotgun but ever since I bought it I have wanted the pistol grip stock and ghost rings sights on it. After pricing a ghost ring sight barrel, pistol grip stock, plus the rear sight and having my reciever drilled/tapped to mount it, I am coming close to half the cost of one with all this already on it. SO I figured I would try and find one, then sell my old one. Anyone have what I am looking for? I have been watching gunbroker for the last couple weeks but no luck there yet.
  15. Sounds like someone has tried this in the past? Any idea on how the "rings" are attached to the barrel? Is is welded, brazed, or soldered? I wonder if a M1 barrel could be purchased, the original ring removed, a new one machined to match the profile of the M3, and then the new ring attached to the barrel? Or, has anyone had a M3 barrel machined for screw in chokes? Is there enough thickness to allow this, or are they too thin?
  16. Darn, I was afraid of that. Now, I wonder if there is any way, shape, or form, that a M1 super 90 barrel could be modded to work on a M3? Comparing pictures, it appears the only difference is the front "ring" or whatever its called (part the retaining nut tightens down aganst)
  17. Is there such a beast? From what I am finding online, all the M3 18.5in barrels were not offered with screw in chokes. It appears the M1 had a 18.5in barrel with screw in chokes avalable, but not the M3. What I have is a M3 super 90 with the 18.5in barrel with rifle sights. I am wanting to install factory ghost ring sights on it, so that would require a new barrel. I figured while I was getting a new barrel, I might as well get one with screw in chokes, only to find out, its looking like they do not make one. It appears they made a 26in barrel for the M3 with screw in chokes, but I do not want the longer barrel, I like it the length it is now. So is there a M3 18.5in ghost ring sight barrel with screw in chokes, or am I SOL?
  18. Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I have a Benelli M-3 Super 90. I had always wanted one since I first read about them, and the first one I saw I jumped on it quick. (it was the first and last one I have seen) Anyways I would like to upgrade it some. Although it is one of my dream guns (ones I always wanted) it is not in the configuration I want it in. Right now it has the standard stock and rifle sights. What I want is for it to have the pistol grip stock and gost ring sights, and I also would love to have screw in chokes, but I have been told that I cant have that cause none were ever made that way. I was wondering where or IF I could get a barrel for screw in chokes, with the gost ring front sight, then all I would need is the rear sight and have a gunsmith mount it on my reciver. I would like to have factory Benelli parts but I am not sure if I can afford them. I was thinking if mabey I could find some aftermarket sights that look close to the factory benelli ones then that would probably be good enough, but then how do you go about mounting them. Can the factory sights be removed and have it look like it wasnt there? I dont worry about the front one so mutch cause it would be covered by the new one, but the old rear sight is mounted to the barrel, not the reciver, so that poses a problem, removeing it without it looking like crap afterwards. How does it mount to the barrel anyways? Glue, soder, weld, made as part of the barrel? Or what. That might take care of the sight part, but that dont do anything for the choke part. I had looked at a couple of M-1's and they had screw in chokes, and I had a idea that mabey I could mod one of those barrels to fit the M-3. I havent seen one dissassembled, but put together they look just like the M-3, other than the fore grip. So I was thinking tha mabey they are basicly the same with the the only diffrence being the front retaining ring (????correct name for this part???) the M-3 uses this part to lock the foregrip in place for when it switches to auto. (works basicly like the locking lugs on a bolt action) So I was thinking mabey a real good gunsmith could machiene this part on the M-1 barrel (if by some chance they could somewhat interchange) to match the one on the M-3's factory barrel and then I would have a barrel for screw in chokes and gost ring sights, then all I would need is the rear sight and I am done, except for the stock (but that should be easy, as all I would need to do is find one) It would be nice if someone here has a M-1 that they could dissassemble for me and take some measurements for me to compare to my M-3. I have a dig. camera and can take pics of anything you need. Well this has gone on long enough, I'm tired of typing..lol Hope someone can help me. Thanks, --Jared
