  1. SBE II, totally satisfied. The SBE II replaced the Mag 10 as my go to duck gun. No malfunctions. Selling my Citori so I can buy an M2 in 20 gauge.
  2. Years ago I had a pre Boss BAR in 7 Mag. Best it could do was groups about the size of the palm of your hand. Find out what Benelli's standards are for the R1. You may also have magazine issues. I now have a BAR in 308 with the Boss. Bought a spare mag, didn't use it but the last day of season. I had a double feed shooting at an rapidly escaping 8 pointer. See if a new mag will solve the feeding issues.
  3. My computer doesn't have the dodads or the gigs to run Benelli's updated website. I'm intrigued by the new 06 M2 20 gauge with the comfortech stock. It looks to be the virtual twin of my SBE II. Anyone know if its been modified to cycle the 7/8 ounce dove loads reliably?
  4. Lurk here every day, but I don't post often. I've pretty much fixed the teething problems I had in loading the mag on my SBE II, think it just need to be broken in like everyone here told me to in the first place. Had yet another great day duck hunting with the SBE II, and I was wondering if anyone here has heard of a 20 gauge in the SBE II configuration coming out for 2006. I've checked out Benelli's other offerings and they don't quite have what I want, which is a scaled down SBE II for the small stuff.
  5. Mudhen, I am ashamed. I was also advised to go out and break it in first thing when I signed in on the board earlier this spring. I didn't and this is the result.
  6. I too have the same problem. Plummer has some great pics that he added to my post.
  7. Meant to add, I'll trade some of our October woodies for your Mallards...
  8. Plummer your last pic is what my gun looked like in the field. For the life of me I could not load a single round in the mag. I thought I had played with every combination in an attempt to load it while the birds were flying to no avail. I chambered the first round in the barrel using the button on the reciever to close the bolt. Then attempted to load the weapon normally. Second day a had a bit better luck but still had to mess with the gun far longer than I would have liked. What finally worked every other attempt or so was loading the mag first, by pushing the red button. If I could get the mag loaded the one in the tube was easy. Still real uneasy with loading it. I just don't have time to mess with it back at the residence, and the wife frowns on me loading and unloading a shotgun in the house....
  9. Thanks Tucker, I'll take a look at it. Commando, my only pathetic excuse I can offer is I thought the SBE II would chamber and unload like a Browning, or Remington or an Ithaca. I never once thought the manual of arms would be different.
  10. Bought this gun this March, assembled it, and put it in the safe. I read this forum just about every day, but not having actually shot the gun, I didn't have anything to say. So there I was Virginia's duck opener this Thursday, Woodies flying all around me, and I can't load the shells in the magazine. I opened the action, shut it with a shell in it using the button, and simply cannot load another shell in the mag. While the fault is completely my own, I thought the SBE II would function like any other auto. Drop a round into the receiver, push the button, and load two in the mag. I had a 1400 dollar one shot auto. That said both days I hunted I limited out on Woodies before 0700. So it wasn't a total loss. The SBE II is a sweet shooting soft recoiling gun. I was shooting Winchester Supreme Hi Velocity 3 inch shells, and barely felt them. I did manage on the second day to drop the recoil pad in the swamp after it caught on my rain coat. Also when I went to empty the gun, I couldn't get the shells to cycle through the reciever and used the carrier release. It had such a strong spring it kicked the shells right out of the gun. So my question is, is there and easier way to load, and unload the SBE II? Tom Knapp didn't seem to have a problem on the commericals. I would go into the exciting experience of cleaning the gun, and watching the bolt and carrier fly across the room, but I'll save that for another day
  11. Meant to add that I have a Browning Gold Slug gun. I shoot that 2 3/4 inch 385 grain Nosler Partition out of it at 1900 fps. I have fired nothing else in my life with that much violent recoil. Its simply vicious. I own, and shoot a 300 Weatherby thats a ***** cat next to Winchester slug load out of the Browning Gold. Until I bought the SBE II my duck gun was a Mag-10. Not even throwing 2 1/4 ounces of lead compares to this 385 grain load in the Browning Gold. Winchester recently came out with a 3 inch load with the 385 grain Nosler. Supposed to run 2000 fps. I ran from the store screaming.
  12. I saw on OLN the high speed photography of the SBE II in recoil. The entire rear stock flexed. I have an 04 catalog someplace and I think they used the SBE I as the comparison weapon in most of the charts. Had several more Brand X's listed but I wasn't able to determine which shotguns they were comparing the recoil of the SBE II to. I've had mine since March, but haven't cranked off a round yet, so I can't say whether or not its a gimmick. The SBE II seems lighter than my Citori, if it doesn't kick me any harder than the Citori, I won't complain.
  13. I also purchased my SBE II for Duck hunting. I "discovered" Hevi shot last season using my Citori. I've read alot about Terror chokes, but can't find any for sale in my area. I plan on using Benelli's factory issued Crio chokes, and would also like to know what choke I should use for #4 #5 and #6 shot in Hevi. Or at least what's worked for the forum members. Although I haven't heard of any failures (or the inability to pattern Hevi) with the SBE II, I need to know that too.....
  14. Looking at it, it looks like a light parkerizing. Thanks for all the tips on the bolt handle. Will use it the next time I take it apart. Lee
  15. It doesn't take a rapid up and down movement once the trigger is pulled on the closed bolt, just tilting the gun up and down will do it. The part making the noise looks like the cartridge drop lever, its to the rear of the bolt. When the weapon is in this condition the cartridge drop lever is inside the reciever and not showing through the bottom. If the bolt is closed and the trigger is not pulled, and you shake the weapon up and down you can hear a tinkle like sound I guess that's the inertia system. Thank you for your help. Lee
