personally i prefer the cantilever slug barrel with 3inch mags, with a scope, this is the main reason i bought the gun because it will accept the mags, and has a flatter trajectory. Once sighted this gun, is very accurate.

I am pretty upset with my nova, this summer i took it to the range and fired 4 rounds through the slug barrel and the gun would not eject the last shell, i was using brenekke 2 3/4 slugs, so this deer season i took the bird barrel with me and used winchester 3 inch mag slugs for it, a deer came running past about 60 yards out and i took four shots and hit the deer 3 times all were very clean shots right behind the shoulder, But as the deer crashed into brush and bramble and i was about to shoot again, the gun jammed and i had to get the shell out of the gun by jamming the butt into a tree while holding the action release and pumping the gun. Is this typical break in for a new barrel? As of right now i am ready to take the gun back, but was looking for some in-put, any advice will help

the nova is the best choice for slug and brush not to mention turkey, i shot my new nova using the slug barrel about a month ago and man was it sweet. i was drilling the kill zone @ 150yrds with authority, the only slipup was that it jammed on the tenth shot because i was using brenneke rotweil blitz slugs and they had to short of casing for the gun, from now on all i shoot through the slug barrel is federal premium. good luck on the gun hunt

I am using a cantilever fully rifled barrel that came as a combo with the gun, i am assuming it is a benelli barrel because it came as a set, yes i am shooting lead slugs.

i recently purchased a nova, and took it to the range a week ago, using the slug barrel i fired 15 rounds through it using brenneke rotweil blitz slugs which are 2 3/4". on the 11th or 12th shot the gun jammed to the point where i really had to rack the gun with basically all my strength to get the shell out and i am a pretty big guy. is there a certain type of shell that should be used in this gun, i have been told to use sabots but the gun shot rifled slugs just fine. also on the rotweil slugs i noticed the casing to the shell was very short unlike most of the other slugs i have seen. can some one please give me some info on this it would be very helpful thank you

The Brown Stuff Coming off of your barrel is more than likely rust. I own 7 firearms and grease them very generally about once a month with hoppe's #9 high viscocity/lubricant this should keep your gun well oiled and very functional. Also check your barrel(s). My Nova reciever and barrels came loaded with bear grease and i cleaned them out. If you hunt in the winter time this bear grease will freeze up and cause the gun to jam. Make sure this is cleaned out.

I have recently purchased a Benelli Nova Pump Combo at the local gander mountain. They had all barrels in stock and to choose from. the vented ribbed field barrels I'm thinking were around 185$. This is pricy i know because i have been saving for this gun quite awhile. On the other hand GM had a very nice selection of Remington's, Winchester's, Mossberg's and other assorted guns. I believe Benelli has the smoothest pump shotgun all around, and the most well working and functioning pump shotgun. the thought that comes to mind though is that if you are not rich, as myself i admit i am not, then the question comes what functions do I need as a hunter on this gun? Well Benelli's, Remington's, Winchester's, and Mossberg's all do the same thing and that is shoot slugs and shot. so what i would suggest is that if u want to spend your money on a new barrel that is your decision, if you want to buy a new gun that is also your decision. But if you are on a budget the smartest move is to buy a cheaper gun, my brother owns a Rem.870Wingmaster and i have seen him dump a deer at 100yrds with slugs, and shoot birds with plenty of knockdown power using 2 3/4 inch shells. This gun was passed to him through my dad who bought this gun back in the 70's and it is still very well functioning. Once again though it is your decision on what to buy and you should use your own beliefs, and opinions when selecting a gun, not just from some one saying whether or not which gun brand they think is the best
