  1. Yes, the non-mating surfaces on many of the parts in my Benelli look similar to yours.

It simply makes no sense to go to the added effort and expense of polishing an internal part where it doesn't matter.

All of the surfaces that are points of contact with other parts are clean and smooth.

While I agree that polishing for the sake of polishing is not an efficient way to manufacture a firearm, my concern is that these are far deeper than anything that could be simply polished away, and it has me questioning the durability of certain parts. Particularly, the rear of the trigger assembly seems to indicate a lack of concern with casting quality, which does worry me a bit. That being said, the durability of Benelli products is well documented, so I'm not too worried as long as mine isn't outside of the norm.

  2. I realize I'm showing up out of the blue with a fair amount of negativity, but I must say that I'm less than impressed with the workmanship I'm finding in this shotgun. I mentioned the bad finish under the hand guards on my in a previous M-4, and now as I take a closer look at the internals I'm finding several areas which are quite rough.

Oh, and the stock is not straight.

I've emailed images to Benelli, and hopefully they will take care of this. I was told to call back after a week and a half if I haven't heard anything by then.

  3. No patience to try and search this so sorry if covered. For the older M1 Super 90, which do you prefer and why? Does pistol grip help with functioning of the bolt due to better recoil control, does it just get in the way or feel unnatural, other pros and cons?

It seems to be a matter of weapon retention during fights as far as many are concerned. And the cool factor of course.

  4. If you take the existing butt pad off and look inside the stock you will see a ridge. If you cut the stock down to just before that ridge you can then put a pad that Benelli offers. The same one that come on the Nova youth model. That is how it is done with the Nova that come as short stocked youth models. I believe this only applies to the 20-ga version.

This is good information, I have been wondering about exactly this. Thanks!

  5. The finish of the gas system is splotchy and uneven, it's not anything I can clean off, and a light film of oil doesn't change it in any substantial way. Does anybody have any ideas as to what may be the culprit? Does any soldering go on in this area? Could that be the problem? Thanks in advance for the help.

  6. Ok, i'm looking for a semi-auto shotgun for home defense, and the m2 tactical and the m4 have caught my attention. What are the pros and cons of each model? How do they function with reduced-recoil loads, standard and magnum rounds? What is the deal with the 2 vs. 4 ports on the m-4? Can I get the military version(1014?) of the m-4? Should I consider any other models of benelli? Any information would be most helpful and appreciated. Thanks.
