ive been playing with wads. ive denn puting just a shot cup in a twelve. i managed to put 2 5/8 of shot in it. but theres only 17.5 grains of red dot in it. will all the shot stay in a pattern?

i want a semi auto. ive been shooting a mossberg silver reserve and love it. but for deer and turkey hunting i dont fell comfortable with it. i have my own reloads and it has 17.5 grains of red dot. will that be enought for a semi or should i make it bigger?
