When I'm hunting, I prefer a call that's easy to keep in resonance, and not have to worry if my togue is off by a thousand of an inch, or if there's too much or not enough hand back pressure. Sometimes them $20-$30 calls do the job quite nice. The last thing I want or need is a competition duck call in the field. I really like Buck Gardners Double Nasty, or the Primos Cocobolo Wench..easy to blow and as much a hen as a hen herself...but to each his own..

I won't be taking the chance to see if and when it'll bulge the barrel of my SBEII, only to have learned an $800 lesson. The thought of a shell that got wet this fall in the bottom of the boat, and then to shoot that solid mass of steel next fall....ugly I'll stick with my meger mod choke, and hope for the best. Ernie

I had to share this info with you all! We had a guest down to hunt with us this past Friday afternoon. After we set up our 6 xlanders and decoy spread, we were chatting while waiting for the geese to fly. The topic drifted towards chokes of choice for steel shot. Our guest who happens to be a field rep for a major call company tells us all that he's been shooting an Extra Full turkey choke with 3.5" steel loads for the past 3 seasons, and I was in disbelief. We talked about how much chamber pressures that would develop from some a constriction, and this dude just laughs, that hey if it bulges the barrel, I just purchase another one. I'm thinkng, maybe you should just go about 100 yards away from us incase that Charles Daley decides to go for the great barrel bulging dillema today.. This guy says that he can knockem down out to 50yards with no problem. It sure left me scratching my head in disbelief that someone could be so carefree and nonshelant about this topic.. How does this forum respond to this, as I'm going to email it to him Thanx in advance Ernie

I shot some 3" federals in T a few years back with my old 870 and didn't have too go of luck, although I didn't paper test them. You know when you point and hit you gain immediate confidence but not with them. I'll do some more testing.. Thank you Ernie

Thanks everyone for the input: I'm certainly not sold at all on the 3.5 kent faststeel thru my SBEII. My brother is shooting an rem870 shooting 3" winchester expert in BB, and stoneing em' out to 40yrds..Yea yea, he's the better shooter, I think not, but I'll experiment some more with different loads in steel. ****, I can't afford to throw anything but steel at honkers. Anyone looking for a case of 3.5 Kents in 1's and BB.. Ernie

If I can order a 5 shot extension, I'm going to install it and take my chances afield with it. Does anyone know what overall length that extension would be, and how far from the end of the muzzle on a 26" barrel it would leave it? Thank you all for your responses on this matter. So why then is the 2 shell extension legal if it was not manufactured or shipped that way. I'm just curious to know. Thank you

I wanted to get a price on a 4 shell mag extension, for my 26"sbeII, and the dealer told me that it would make my gun a prohibited weapon, anyone heard of this good news before? They told me that a 2 shot extension is ok but not the 4 . Go fish..

Hey TBone: Throw the Mod in and put it on em! I found while paper testing my SBEII that the 3" where in the center of the target and the 3 1/2" shot high and left. I shimmed the stock to compensate for hi hitting 3 1/2" loads and now there's trouble amoungst the honkers decoys. From my meger experience you shoot one or the other and set the firearm up for that specific load for optimum performance. Hope this helps out

Last fall, I purchased a new SBEII with a 26" barrel. I decided prior to our Goose opener (last week) up here in Ontario that I best pattern it. I tested Kent Faststeel 3 1/2" 1 3/8oz #1 and BB. It threw hi and to the left almost a foot. Two test loads averaged 67% of the pellets were in the 30" circle at 32yrds. I also tested Challengers Super Magnum 3" 1 3/8oz BB. and it hit dead on. All testing was done with mod choke (crio choke) I'd like to stay with the hard thumping 3 1/2" for the honkers, but I'm not impressed with the way they spit from the eagle II. Maybe I need to hang a heavy weight off the muzzle end to help hold thumper down? Tonight, I changed the shims from the "B" to a "C", to bring that muzzle down. Can anyone shed some light on this subject for me please. Different choke? Different loads? Pro-porting. Thank You Ernie
