It's normal. The forward sling attachment is secured by a split ring. It won't come off by accident.

I understand that there are different models of the Benelli M4, including the 11707. Is the model number marked on the M4? If so, where? If not, how can I tell which model I'm looking at now? Its only marking is "M4" near the ejection port. Where can I find a list of the differences between each model?
