  1. I use the following: HORNADY 12 Gauge 2 3/4" LOW RECOIL "Tactical Application Police" BUCKSHOT http://www.ammobank.com/cgi-bin/cshop/store/detail.tam?xax=297768&item%2Ectx=HOA8626 SupernovaNole
  2. It's interesting you said this. I was just talking to my girlfriend last night and she told me that one of the reasons she never wanted to learn how to use the guns previously was because she didn't think she would be able to use them on someone. So she figured that it would not be any use. She said that during the home invasion she was ready willing and able to kill someone if need be. She said it really surprised her. I think she is still dealing with that realization. It is serious business and I'm really glad it never came to that and she ended up ok. Be safe everyone and get training for your families, SupernovaNole
  3. My Benelli Supernova Pump Tactical came in handy this past weekend... Two men broke into my townhome at approximately 12:30am early Monday morning. I was out of town but my girlfriend was home upstairs watching tv. She heard noises and then two men talking downstairs. She called 911 immediately. The men turned on lights downstairs and were looking around. They must have heard her moving around upstairs because she heard them say "I think someone is upstairs... go up there and check it out." The upstairs hallway light came on and my girlfriend heard footsteps coming up the stairs. Fortunately she had retrieved my supernova pump tactical and yelled "I have a shotgun and I know how to use it. Get the F--k out of my house" She then cocked the shotgun. Upon hearing the shotgun cock the burglars proceeded to run from the premises. Of note, it took the police 30 minutes to arrive from the time she called them. I live in Sandy Springs which is a suburb of Atlanta 1/2 mile outside the perimeter on the North side. It is considered a safe area and they still took that long. I hate to think of what would have happened had she not had the means to defend herself. So for all those people who ask "why do you need a gun?" Here is your answer. I would always say so I have it in case I need it. I just never thought I would need it. Ironically my girlfriend comes from an anti-gun family and has always been afraid of my guns. I would always try to teach her how to load them and be safe with them but she was always put off by it so we had a 'don't touch' policy for her. Fortunately she had paid enough attention that she knew how to load the shotgun and 'shuck' it. Just that sound alone was enough thankfully. I'm also glad I got a pump shotgun instead of an automatic as I was debating the choice when I purchased my gun last year. She is still pretty freaked out, as am I, but it could have been much worse. Be safe everyone and I hope this never happens to you or someone you love.
  4. I'm also looking for a mag extension for my Supernova. I have the tactical though so I'm guessing I need a +2 extension. SupernovaNole
  5. I'd prefer not becoming a victim :-) But there are plenty of good defense loads that don't have any 'perception' problems... What do you guys use for home defense? SupernovaNole
  6. That is why I think it is important to limit all aspects of self defense that might be perceived as 'too aggressive' such as 'Magnum' loads or stickers that say 'don't worry about the dog, beware of owner - with a picture of a big handgun'... Hopefully none of us will ever find ourselves in that kind of situation but if we do I think it's important to cover ALL our bases. Including how a potential jury may view our weapon(s) and ammo. Thanks for the responses, SupernovaNole
  7. I live in Georgia so I'm not sure the state would frown upon it. I'm more concerned with the civil aspects and a potential jury made up of Atlanta citizens. . . I think I'll just use the ammo for practice and not even risk it. SupernovaNole
  8. I just bought some ammo from Ammo Bank and one of the boxes I received was: Federal Premium Law Enforcement Ammunition 12ga 2 3/4 inch Maximum 9 pellets 00 buck my question relates to some copy on the box: "This ammunition is designed and manufactured exclusively for sale to Law Enforcement agencies" I am not law enforcement so am I prohibitted from having/using this ammo? More specifically, if I were to use this ammo in my supernova tactical for home defense and the sh*t were to hit the fan would it look bad from a criminal or civil perspective defending a self defense shooting? I bought the ammo with the idea of testing different types of ammo for my new shotgun and I didn't know it was LE only when I purchased it. Thanks, SupernovaNole
  9. Drundel, Thanks for posting the pics... I think I have a plan for mounting my light. I'll post pics when I get it all worked out. SupernovaNole
  10. Hey Sonyman, Your rig looks sweet. Does the cord from the press switch get in the way when you cycle the pump? I was thinking that I'd just have to use the flashlights switch to activate the light but if it works for you I may consider using a pressure switch too. thanks for posting the pics. SupernovaNole
  11. Has anyone put a surefire (or any other light) on their Supernova Tactical? I emailed Surefire asking if they had a product that fit the Supernova and this was the response I got: "Unfortunately, we do not make any lights that fit your make and model of firearm. " Any pictures of your Supernova with a light attached would be great... Thanks, SupernovaNole
