  1. Ok thanks guys, try this on for size...I called the 1-800 number on the package for Carlsons and figure I'll end up talking to one of their customer service types or end up in voice mail **** of some sort. Not the case at all it turns out, first ring an actual live person answers the phone and wasn't a 100% sure and asks if I'll hang on a second while they go get "Scott". Less than a minute later I'm talkin choke tubes directly with Scott Carlson and he advised similiar to what other's have posted here that they are interchangeable systems as Beretta is the parent company of Benelli or some sort of major shareholder in it I guess. Scott was awesome to speak with and we ended up talking hunting and shotguns for about 10 minutes. Outstanding customer service!!!
  2. Ok so here's the story I dropped by my local gun shop to pick up one of the new Black Cloud choke tubes to try in my Benelli. The sales guy tells me they only have the Beretta Optima Plus tube and it will work no problem....I'm a little skeptical at first but then he opens the package and screws the Beretta choke tube into SBEII with no issues whatsoever. Took it home and it screws into my SBEII with no issues either. Haven't had a chance to go out and shoot it but does anyone here see a problem with this, I'm beginning to have second thoughts using this in my Benelli. Thoughts?
  3. Okay thanks very much tucker Mine has looked this was since I got it as well, good to know it's not just mine.
  4. Evening All This is the bolt out of my Benelli SBE II if you look at the front end of the bolt around the outer edge you'll notice what appears to be surface pitting of the metal. My question is, is this normal? This has always been present since I have owned the gun approx 4 months now. It is stored in a warm dry room and is not in a case, no other parts of the bolt or gun in general show any signs of this. I use CLP to clean and lube the gun only as the bottle of Benelli oil that came with the gun had next to nothing in it when I opened it. Any advice/input is welcome
  5. Thanks for the info guys... I don't doubt the durability at all after a week spent using my new one.
  6. Evening all: I was wondering if anyone had read any reviews about excessive wear on Benelli receivers as they are made from aluminum. Are they in fact made of aluminum and has anyone here experienced any issues because of this? I thought they were steel but perhaps I am mistaken
  7. PM headed your way...many thanks
  8. This evening I did a detail strip of the bolt of my newly purchased SBE II and cleaned it per the directions provided before heading out to the range this weekend. I have re-assembled it but want to be certain I did it correctly to that end I took some photos I was hoping folks more familiar with Benelli's on this forum could take a look at to confirm. I don't have a sufficient post count to put links to photos but if you want to email me through the forum I can send you the link to the pictures. After re-assembling the bolt when I pressed the bolt face back towards the bolt carrier and then pushed the firing pin with a soft tipped screw driver the pin came out about 1/4 of an inch (just eyeballing it...didn't actually measure). If you don't mind taking a look it would be greatly appreciated. The gun went back together fine and a test fire with a snap cap felt the same as it did other times.
  9. Thanks Tucker301 for the quick reply and the advice...I can't wait to try this gun out. I'll have to see what is allowed at the trap club and whether I can use field loads or not. I don't see why they wouldn't let me but that's the trouble being in Canada some of the gun clubs are pretty restrictive on what they will allow on their ranges.... If they won't allow it...I'll have to find a spot to run some field loads through it.
  10. I just picked up a new SBE II and am heading to the local trap range to break it in this weekend. This is the first Benelli I have ever owned and have some questions that I haven't been able to find answers for by searching. What type of ammo is recommened for the break in given I'm going to be doing this on a trap range what are my options that would be heavy enough to break the gun in properly. I have a small bottle of oil that came with the gun which is great to start. Should I stick with the Benelli stuff or can I use Hoppe's #9 in the Benelli? Thanks for any info you can provide.
