  1. I didn't have any trouble when I was selecting HD rounds and was trying out Winchester and Hornady LR rounds. OO Buck and slugs worked just fine. I will say that I couldn't float an extra round with the LR stuff though.

  2. Some of the better 2-3/4" defense rounds for the home (most are reduced loads):

Hornady TAP FDP (max load for max penetration and accuracy over a distance in 00)

Federal LE Tactical (inexpensive, general home defense 00 w/ FLITECONTROL)

Hornady LE Tactical (tighter manufacturing tolances than Federal LE Tactical)

Brenneke Tactical Home Defense (knock down slug for armored intruders)

I've got 35 boxes of the TAP LE! LOL

  3. hello all.....

I got to go to the range today with my Benelli M4.....

brought some Remington 00 buck, some Royal low-recoil, full power 00 Buck (whatever that means), and some Hornandy Personal defense 00 buck.....

Overall the recoil from the Royal and Remingtons were manageable and I was able to hit my target 50-75 yards away....but one thing I did notice was that the pellets were spreading really wide by the time it hit the target.

I was using human sized paper targets and the pellets spread to the point that the groupings were like 1.5 feet apart...... that was when I was wondering if I was shooting my gun out of its effective range??

But anyhow when I popped in the Hornandy rounds I was hit with so much recoil that it was way beyond my comfort level. I would stop to complain, swear and cuss a bit in between shots......and right after the people shooting next to me would look at me and laugh....lol....even the girl I took to the range was laughing.. but anyway... I have a nice bruise on my shoulder now... hope I wont wake up sore tomorrow...

all in all... the gun is great, got many compliments at the range, in addition, it never jammed, fired everything ...I just have to throw some slugs in there and see how it does.

I know what you mean. when I first shot mine I tried out the low recoil versions and the full strength semi auto versions. The LR work just fine but the SA stuff was painful. Also, the shot patterns for the LR were tighter than the SA. I found that I prefer the low recoil buck and slugs and that is what I have in it for HD.

  4. Has anyone ever tried this ammo before in their 12ga??

Its a 2 3/4 inch shell, 00 Buckshot, 9 Pellet, recommended for "home defense" and supposedly used by Law Enforcement....

Would you use this to go into a fighting, battle scenario??

I tried it out along with some of the LE red box semi-auto and the LE low recoil stuff. I found that the two full strength, the semi auto red box and the FPD stuff, gave pretty crappy patterns. Only about 2-3 of the pellets were in the 12 inch circle. The rest was scattered all over the paper. Some 12 inches outside the circle. The low recoil onthe other hand had great patterns. That is what I'm using in my M4.

  5. I have to go with tucker. What if you only have time for one shot. I'd hate to be in a situation where I only had one shot to save my, or a family member's life, and only have a blank in the chamber.

  6. My M4 came with the +2 extension and I had to remove that every time I disassembled it for cleaning. I decided to get the full length and it is now much easier. i also think it makes it look better as it now looks like it is supposed to be there vs. something screwed on later.

  7. Any shotgun with only a pistol grip is illegal. However, shotguns with a pistol grip and stock attached are legal as well as the rest of Cook County. I know because I called CPD three times and proceeded to purchased my Benelli M4 based on the clarification I received after searching for answers. What dealer will you be buying from?

I hope you got that in writing.
