Well I guess I'll find out, since I ordered a bunch of it today. I probably won't get a chance to shoot any of it until next spring, but I took advantage of a sale.

Has anyone ever had problems shooting Sellier & Bellot Buckshot through their shotguns? I'm not talking about their military surplus, just their regular civilian buckshot rounds. Are they any better or worse than cheap Winchester or Remington ammo? Thanks

Neither of the local shops carried them in stock, so they ordered them for me.

I'm very interested in what you think of them. Also what will you be shooting them through?

Well I looked a little closer at Federal's website and I guess the difference between these rounds are the Hollow point version is intended for big and large game (Elk, Moose, etc.). The Truball version is intended for smaller game (Deer, Antelope, etc.)

Federal makes both the solid core Truballs and the Hollow point versions of 12 gauge slugs and I am wondering which is better for what? I would rather not stock up on both types... is one a better general purpose slug than the other? Thanks

OK back on topic here So Mac calls out the Vital-Shok TruBall rifled slugs, but I also see Federal makes some Power-Shok hollow point rifled slugs. Anyone shed some light on the real life differences between the two? I think both are 1oz slugs.

I haven't had the Nordic mag extension, but I have noticed that with the TacStar, you need to have the magazine clamp as well. After you shoot 25+ rounds, you will find the mag extension coming loose and needing to be retightened.

I would think a rifle also would limit your options more, especially if there is a lot more smaller, feather bound game. But thanks everyone for the info

I am hoping some folks here can educate me as far as the viability of hunting large game (say deer and maybe even as large as elk or moose) using slugs in an unrifled 12 gauge barrel. It would seem to me that it is more a matter of getting close enough for accuracy than actual stopping power, is that correct? Whats the best type of slug round for an unrifled barrel? I think I read somewhere they make rifled slugs? I know the old adage, use the right tool for the job, but if you were forced to only pick one type of weapon for the vast majority of hunting, would you choose a 12 gauge? Sorry for all the questions here, I'm just trying to learn whats out there and to make good choices. Jeff

I would like to get a decent (but not too expensive) tactical light to add to my Supernova. I want to be able to keep it to the $20-$40 range or so. Any recommendations? I took a look at the Coast LL7736TS, which looks pretty nice, but $45 and I don't know if some other brands (like Dorcy), will give me the same performance for $20 less. And thoughts? recommendations? Thanks!
