I removed the stock mag tube in preparation for Socom's full length tube.
Upon removal with heat gun, there is NO residual thread locker on the reciever threads.
Do I apply red or blue loctite when I put in the new mag tube?

On a related topic, I have my SRM 2 shot extension for sale, but i hard anodized it for $150 in addition to the $99 I bought it for.
Also, I took off the stock mag tube. It is NOT possible with a hair dryer.
So, I bought a strap wrench and a cheap heat gun. Came off after an initial hard effort. The problem it to get leverage, cause the pistol grip is all you really have protruding from the gun.
Anyway, it's off an bare, wating for your tube. Should I apply more Loktite? The original thread lock all went off with the barrel. The reciever threads are ABSOLUTELY bare.
Red or Blue thread lock?

Unobtanium, I agree. There is a term "Stop the action"or shoot and keep shooting until lack of offensive movement. Small buckshot is the best bet. I have shot many deer w/slugs and they never reacted, just ran until death. The deer shot w/buckshot go down and, given the chance, often get up. Humans are harder to figure(we are predators) but every mind is different. If a predator is after me I am going to stop the action.

I bought the full length tube, so I don't need my 2 shot tube i got from Brownells.
The brand is SRM Performance. I have the aluminum follower and the tube and the coupler, but no spring. I hear the stock spring is good enough.
I did one modification to it, I had it hard anodized by Techplate in Anaheim California. The stock finish was coming off much too easily. This process actually cost more than the part, but now it's EXTREMELY durable.
Anyway, I bought the part for $99 and the hard anodize was $150, but will sell for $50.
Also have the stock benelli mag and stock benelli charging/bolt handle to throw in with it.

PATTERN YOUR GUN!!! You want a soccer ball size pattern (like splash said) at the futherest distance of your house.
I did pattern the choke that came with it!
I need to know before I buy and waste money wether to buy more chokes and if they matter.
For instance, the gentleman above stated that the IC choke patterned the same at 10 yards.
Now I need to know if a cylinder choke will make a diff at ten yards before I waste money buying it.
If not, then I'm won't buy it.

Surefire is usually VERY good about customer problems.
If I did have a recurring prob. I'd trash the light and buy another, better model.

I always realised that you never point it, but need to aim it. But again, my intention was to get a little more spread.
Anyone use Cylinder choke? Any differences at 10 yards? This will be my max range due to the configuration of the house.
It is about 50 yards long, but due to hall and corners, etc. the max range is 10yds.

So it seems like no matter what choke is put on, you won't see the differences at such a close range?
Am I correct?
The pattern will only be obvious at longer ranges.
In this case, I just won't change it.

The Benelli M4 comes with M (modified) choke with three dots.
Do you feel another choke is better for home defense, that is distances from 25 yards and less?
Realistically the farthest distance to shoot in my home is 10 yards.
I was thinking of putting on an IC choke, 4 dots. on it, for a wider dispersion, and feel it's better than a cylinder choke.

As for the loctight, I took mine off with no heat, just used a wood block to make a small wrench and turned it off, I didi not like the adding of HEAT... I have done 2 this way with no issues. once the seal is broken, they just turn out no issue. I dont belive any lub is needed or would help. The locktight is military GREEN.

I'm wondering if the heavy cloth plumbers strap wrench will work as well?
I too am reluctant to apply heat to any part of the gun.

Would you recommend any spray in the union to loosen up the threads? Any penetrant like Liquid Wrench?

I have a lot of toys, but the common thing that ties them together is that they all have quality and precision as things tying them together.
I ended up getting the LWRC 16 inch upper. Went Yankee Hill for the rear BUIS and getting an EOtech.

Unfortunately got in too late on that for Kalifornia. By the time I had the money, legal changes transpired.
But, I have the Benelli M4, which has been designed from the ground floor up as a military shotgun.
The Venerable Glock.
And the Gas Piston AR15, which addressed the direct impingement dirt that got the AR in trouble and jammed it. Otherwise a great rifle that has served the nation for 40 years.

Let me preface my post by saying that I've always like "industrial strength" things.
I love things that are overbuilt, over-engineered, etc. I like stuff to be dependable and last a long time.
Soooo.
I took out the gas pistons out, and had them thin fim hard chromed.
I see the pistons are already coated on the rounds (probably phosphated or parkerized) and the scraping surface is sharp and bright exposed metal.
So, being the paranoid person that I am, I had them Duraplated at a place called Techplate in Anahiem, CA. I spoke with the tech guy who says the process is good for sliding surfaces (working surfaces) as it has a low co-efficient of friction and is very thin, in the thousandths of inches, so there is no appreciable build up, and denser as defined by the amount of chromium in it. So, I went with it.

Stock system was probably perfect.
This action just lets me sleep better knowing I took care of a bizarre fetish to improve on something.
I never can let anything remain just stock and as is. Cars, knives, cameras all need modding. ha ha ha.
I"LL post pics when done in three weeks. Hope some of you are like me and understand the need to have stuff the way you want it. Flame on.

What gas parts are you referring to?
The actual gas piston and the tube in which it resides. If you put oil on it, it is prone to attracting stuff.
Page 66 of the Benelli manual, in addition to other sources, say to that the "gas system must not be lubricated".
Just clean the fouling off the pistons and tubes in which they reside and reassemble.
Replace O rings every now and again, when necessary upon inspection.

Using a bore-snake is like taking your car through a $3 automatic touch-free car wash.
Using a cleaning rod with a brush and then a patch/swab is like taking it to a hand-wash/wax detail shop.
This is as good of an analogy as I can give you.
All you need on a shotgun. You need a more critical clean on a tight bored rifle that fires a round that need to be completely meeting the lands and grooves and not only have to shoot out to 35 yards.
The shotgun is a blunderbuss. This is not a precision weapon and just needs function.
Your long rifle that needs to reach out and whose rounds will suffer accuracy problems needs the whole patch, bruch and swab.
But again, to each his own.

only problem either used wrong could mess up barrel, i would add some lubricant known as http://www.militec1.com/, i like this stuff a lot and it's not going to gum up your action!
Bore snake is kinda hard to swab plastic residue from crimps but i would own both! Hoppes is good stuff just do not get anything with solvent on black synthetic stock! I guess lotta people use motor oil on guns but they have addative packages in them and i would try to find one that would not be harmful to shotguns!
use a good choke tube and never leave tube torqued in barrel when not in use!!

Yea, they do the same thing, clean the bore and re oil it.
But the boresnake does it on an just a few passes because there are two wire bruches, a long length of cleaning material.
I put my cleaners on and then pull through several times.
