now I know. according to benelli, 1990. Imported by H&K. Customer service was very helpful. They said I could send it in, and they would replace the spring, and tube if needed. I figure w/ a new spring and occasional gun scrubber cleaning, I'll be good for a long time. Just wish I could get in there.. Maybe the tube and stud/cap will be the new style w/ nut. Cody, may take you up on that. I'm guessing that new cap/stud replaces the threaded stud, opposite the receiver? and the new threaded stud has flat sides above the threads, for an adjustable wrench etc.? Is the lock nut for replacing the stock? I figured there would be a flat sided/nut shape at the receiver end on the new tubes... Didn't even consider removing the stud. Everything is round.......... So, I need to leave the tube attached to the receiver, and remove the threaded stud at opposite end? cksh8me, there is no "nut" really. The cap/stud is round, small and recessed inside a bulge in the tube. see pics below. I wouldn't be as hesitant to heat that, just didn't want to damage the receiver. Hey folks, I have an older M1 super 90. I dove/duck hunt with this gun. Not sure of yr model. It does not have a hex head etc. on the recoil spring tube. Looks like is wasn't designed to be removed. I've searched this forum and others. Seems to be a common practice to heat the tube threads at receiver (to break factory loc-tite) for removal. I want to replace the spring and tube with one easier to remove/clean. I contacted the 2 local gunsmiths I know of, and both said "don't heat anything". One said he had seen some rusted and difficult to remove, but he should be able to get it. I don't want to do this myself, but wonder if these guys are familiar with this gun/model. Looking for advice from someone that KNOWS this gun/model. Wolfe springs seem to be highly recommended.., do they make replacement tubes? I don't think sure-cycle/stainless is a must for me. I plan to keep it clean. Is a replacement tube without loc-tite recommended? Any help appreciated.
