It is a M1014. Any other options besides getting the positions milled into the recoil tube? Such as purchasing the right tube?

Does the telescoping stock on the M4 require a different recoil tube than the Standard Pistol Grip Stock? I am trying to install the telescoping stock and have followed the manual instructions ,but the stock will not move forward. The recoil stock that I have doesn't look like what is drawn in the manual. Thanks
