  2. Ran into a new problem recently for a client. His M4 was going full auto on him when firing. As much fun as that sounds, it wasn't reliable. Most of the time the hammer would fall and ride the bolt carrier into battery, leaving you with a live round in the chamber and the hammer down.

I had the owner send the trigger pack in for me to inspect. I found the trigger itself was defective. The area near the disconnector was out of spec and causing the disconnector to fail. The hammer sear would barely grab onto the disconnector when holding the trigger to the rear and cocking the hammer. The hammer would easily slip past the hook and drop.

Was it the OEM or FFT trigger?

  3. I have an M4 and am totally sold on the OEM handle, which is the one in the picture. For my taste, it looks better than those ridiculous giant tube handles some people festoon them with.

I don't know about the M1 action but, the M4 action is so smooth and easy to charge that you only need a handle the size of the OEM to pull it back. You don't need crowbar.;)

Those are almost as bad as those giant GG&G bolt release maxi-pads that end up spinning like a pin-wheel with field use.

  4. I am Katherine with Asgard Defense. My husband and I own the company and have put a lot of time and effort into developing this beast!

We've been working on this project for the last 18 months and have just completed and initial pre-production run. We realize this is not going to be a fit for everyone, but we want to integrate features that we see people adding to their shotguns. This shotgun will continue to evolve as user feedback shapes the next model offering. We are using the m4 as our platform because we like the ARGO system and note that adding weight to this will not interfere with the reliability.

This initially started as we wanted to create a stock that was inline with the bore axis, so the cheek weld wouldn't be broken. In order to do this, we had to design a new receiver. So, that's when all the other features came into play.

We've conducted live fire exercises with law enforcement, and the feedback has been very positive.

I know it's difficult for us to make a favorable impression with pictures alone....so if you are in the area, stop in, and we'll take you shooting!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

I know this is a little off topic, but have you thought about doing something similar with the R1 series of hunting rifles. They would make great DMR's.

  5. 00Storm,

What can you tell me about the flashlight rail and the front barrel clamp.

Are those custom or available from somewhere?

    Thanks

    John

The front barrel clamp came with a surecycle magazine extension.

The flashlight rail is a GG&G for an 870 that I ground with dremel to fit. I increased the diameter for the magazine tube and ground the top to fit the square barrel junction. It fits solid with no movement.

  6. LOL and he shows a mount with attachment thats the ( pOINT )GUN hit ground not good... thats what I am trying to get away from... to many problems with M4's hitting the ground with that set up............

If your as tall as a hobbit a single point sling is not for you, but I prefer it over 2pt for clearing dwellings.

  7. I see no real need for a sling, at least for my needs. I do have a sling for the M4, however it is not currently a fixed to it.

The way I look at it, I will be either be in the ready position, shooting or dead.

Each to their own, I always say. My night stand has a Blackhawk pistol belt ready to be buckled on, and a M4 leaning next to my bed ready to be slung. Takes less the 3 seconds to be ready to go, time permitting from my dogs and alarm system. Having a sling allows me to transition to a handgun when necessary without separation from the primary weapon.

  8. Any insight you could share about the procedure? Did you use a heatgun or just brute force? :)

I used a heat gun, padded vise, and long handled Philips head screw driver as a T-handle. The end of the false recoil tube has a drainage hole; drill all the way through that hole and out the other end with a bit large enough to accept a screw driver. Apply heat to the receiver & tube junction, and periodically apply turning pressure to the screw driver. Once the Loctite turns to powder, it will unscrew with no chance of damage to the receiver, or false tube. Depending on the temperature setting of the heat gun, it may take any where from 4 to 7 minutes of heating. Using Brute force when gunsmithing is folly.
