  1. In my experience, I like the urbino... but the FFT forend isn't a perfect fit and is harder to get it on, than the stock forend. I use it solely because it matches the color of the stock, as I have purchased mine in tan.

My FFT forend was tough the first/second time but nice and easy after. The directions for it mention it may fit tougher initially due to the "tighter manufacturing tolerances" til it "breaks" in.

  2. I was referring to the forend (hand guards) not the stock, but I appreciate the review and I'm almost 100% sure I'll get one.

Oops sorry.. The FFT hand guards are the same quality pretty much as the stock from Mesa and color matched of course.

  3. How do you like your forend? Does it feel like a better quality made part compared to the stock one? Thinking about getting one

In comparison to the OEM stock it is a better quality especially with the limbsaver pad which just completes it if you ask me. You can just get the standard end which isn't as cushy as the limbsaver pad thats a matter of preference I guess. As "Case" mentioned its feels so much better to shoulder and handle.

Yesterday I shot 25 (7 1/2 Bird) 15 (2 3/4 Buck) 15 (2 3/4 Slugs) and 20 (00 3" Magnum) and had little or no shoulder pain and I am only 160lbs. I think the limbsaver pad does do a pretty good job in my opinion.

  4. The only reason I bought an Urbino was to reduce LOP... so I could take a stance more squared to the target. And, I must admit, the Limbsaver pad is quite nice vs. the stock pad.

I love the limbsaver pad and the shorter LOP... My stock loosened once since I didn't screw it too tight, but since I cranked it down some extra and through 75 rounds of 00 buck and slugs has not gone anywhere. We'll see after many more rounds yet.

  5. You can buy with or without cheek riser as said above.. But if you buy the non cheek riser stock first you won't be able to use the riser after the fact because the stock comes with rails for the riser only when you buy the stock with cheek riser option.

  6. Bank on the above. JG has put a lot more effort and research into this than he lets on. Loctite forms a crystaline structure, which is less elongated on non-ferrous metals like titanium and anodized surfaces. That crystaline structure is exactly what opposes rotation of the parts. As an anerobic adhesive (cures in the absense of air) 242 will form a bond, but that bond is inferior on non-ferrous applications like titanium tubes etc. From Uno's research, which included contacting the manufacturer, and pouring over product data information, he educated me on this improved option. Loctite #243 is new, and the way to go if one intends to introduce medium strength adhesion to any components where steel is not part of the equation.

He (Uno) sent us a sample of the 243, and when I get a chance I look forward to trying it out. Stuff is not cheap, but has many uses. Good investment.

    I owe you one Uno.

Great info that I didn't know.. thanks!

  7. How much shorter is the Mesa Tactical stocks compared to the factory one?

The LOP is 12 1/2 instead of factory 14 3/8, I think with the collapsible stock the factory fully extended is 14 1/2.

The collapsible stock in the mid (2nd position) is pretty much the same LOP as the Mesa Tactical stock. I didn't waste my time looking for one of those (besides the obvious crazy price) since from what I read researching the M4 that no one uses the fully extended position that much and its not that great fully closed either most use the 2nd position 12 1/2 LOP.

The only "real" advantage is the smaller size for transport which doesn't help much unless you do all the work for the 14" barrel NFA item.

  8. I just got my Benelli M4 near the beginning of August and have already modded it somewhat and plan to add a few final touches.

It has the Mesa Tactical OD Green Stock w Limbsaver pad and Cheek Riser (Cheek Riser currently not in use) / FFT OD Green Forend / FFT 3/4" Ti Charging Handle (not shown since I just got it)

I have shot ~200 rounds so far of a combination of 7 1/2 shot, #4 Buck, #4 Magnum Buck, and 00 Buck. No issues to speak of.

I plan on a carriercomp full mag tube order this week, sling, US follower and Hammer and maybe bigger bolt release.
