  1. The first thought that came to my mind was the recoil spring. However before you do that, you could ensure that the bolt carrier rails are thoroughly lubricated. Also have you dismantled the bolt and lubricated that too?

  2. Also as your shotgun did not come crimped from the factory, it will need to be sent to a proof house. The most convenient process is to ship the shotgun to a local Registered Firearms Dealer (RFD) in the UK and they will crimp it and get it proofed.

  3. To my knowledge there is no such thing as a UK spec tube. It is just a normal tube which has been crimped. Remember the tube which needs to be crimped is the one attached to the shotgun; not the extended tube.

Laws are very strict. Shotgun license (which I have) allows semi autos with max 2+1 shells. Any other semi auto requires a special firearms license which is an absolute nightmare to get (police visits, interviews, references, doctor's report and a good reason to own one)

Needs to be a permanent alteration, that is, not reversible

In the UK the tubes are made to UK spec. Any idea where I might get a UK spec tube i the USA?

  4. I don't have personal experience with ordering complete shotguns but so far everything that I have ordered for my M4 has been back ordered or taken way longer than expected. I think that it is just a Benelli thing and is part of the ownership experience for these fine shotguns. Makes it that much more satisfying when you get what you have been waiting for though.

Got to disagree with you; when I order something I want it asap. If a company makes all of the products in-house and they do not expand because it may effect quality control then fair enough; I do not think this is the case with your M4 parts or the Supernova. I may be wrong.

  5. Tear itself up? How many rounds have you put through it? I have put 2k+ on my m2 and it looks identical to yours, am I happy with it; no but I would call that wear and tear. It is a pretty firearm but it is still a firearm, what if it was a car, would you be complaining about the stone chips?

You can consider my views as a rant or you can consider it as putting things into perspective.

    Many thanks

  6. So, what did you plan on using it for? I assume by your post that you purchased a field model with a vent rib barrel without the d&t'd receiver. Your "KILLER" deal probably is going to be a little less killer if you start doing all those things you're talking about doing. There are larger fiber-optic front sights you can add to the rib (Trijicon, Hi-Viz, to name a couple). I've got the Trijicon Trijidot on my field guns and they work very well. Otherwise, finding someone to d&t, purchase the receiver GR sight and add a compatible front sight is going to cost a pretty penny. The M2 Tactical already comes outfitted with either open rifle sights or the ghost ring combo. If I'm not mistaken, the tactical versions already come d&t'd to add a rail for optics. You might be able to find a used rifle-sighted barrel (assuming yours is vent rib), but again, costly. Things to think about.

You can go this route but it will cost you as already mentioned or you can buy a truglo shotgun universal sight with rear ghost ring which attaches to the vent rib!

With a normal bead sight I could not hit anything (practical shotgun) as I had a raised stock and I did not get a true sight picture, now that these sights are fully adjustable I can hit targets dead on! Simular to this: www.opticsplanet.com/truglo-tru-bead-turkey-universal-dual-color-sight-tg950xd.html

  7. I do not know why people frown upon it. I am more of a use what you want kind of guy. Although it would be funny if someone was hunting game but they looked like they are going to war (tactical looking).

  8. Any insight you could share about the procedure? Did you use a heatgun or just brute force? :)

Just brute force, I did not use a heat gun. There is a hole at the end of the tube (butt side) and I put a screw driver in there to help me turn it.

The old fake recoil spring tube and the screw driver were destroyed. However you will not have this problem with the new tube as its outside diameter is in a square shape, rather than a circle; so you can use a spanner to tighten or untighten it.

As my gun is a field model with a vent rib, it was shooting too high with the new stock as I did not get a proper cheek weld. To overcome this I installed the truglo turkey/ghost ring sight. Now I get a true sight picture.

I can upload an image if required.

  9. Hello, I have recently bought a Benelli Supernova Comfortech in 24" Barrel and I have also bought the Supernova Telescopic Stock (part no: 61171).

I am unable to fit the Telescopic Stock because I have a Recoil Spring Tube (part no: 049D) and I think I need the Stock Tube Assembly (166S). Is this correct?

If I bought the Stock Tube Assembly will it be easy to remove the Recoil Spring Tube and fit the Stock Tube Assembly?

    Thank you in advance.

I recieved the new grip (one on the right) today, it seemed to go on very snugly and the rear of the grip is more curvy; it feels more natural to hold compared to the old one.

When I hold the gun with the grip side up to reload, the grip seems steady and does not seem to start becoming loose from the stock (a problem on my previous grip).

So now I am a happy camper once again.

  11. Love my M2 to bits, I use it for practical shotgun shooting. The new shotgun will be used for clays and the odd psg.

I know the trade offs between the M2 and Supernova:-

M2- faster to shoot (auto action)

SN- can shoot any load reliably

I love the feeling of owning any of the 2 shotguns but I am not sure which one I want more as a second one.

What would you do if you were in my shoes or what did you do when you were in my shoes?

  12. Birdshot, buckshot and slugs...its all good! Although slugs can only be shot through modified choke and upwords (3 notches and higher). That is my understanding anyway

  13. As I explained to the loan officer at my CU when he asked me why I wanted a Z06 when I could have a Grand Sport, and would not buy the Grand Sport even though it would be simpler to finance, I told him:

"Buying something other than what I want to save money is just wasting ALL of the money."

    You said it Mr!
