For any future "mod 1" variant, I'd love to see the ability to accommodate a SF Scout verses the "mod 0" tension ring setup.

i don't remember the brand, sorry. It was 4-5 years ago when I ran them through a shotgun class on my M1 S90. Day 1 went well, but as the class progressed, they became less stable for me. After the class, I removed it, gave it to a friend and put on a rigid carrier. I've never looked back. Thanks for your feedback. What make and model of velcro and shot cards did you experience this with? The Esstac cards + Industrial strength Velcro have been rock solid for us over the 7 years we've been using them.
Has anyone else experienced less than stable performance using velcro cards?
at the risk of sounding like a specwar-wannabe, they are probably just fine for the vast majority of uses. If I am ever doing weapons transition "for real" while rolling around in the dirt and brush, I'm having a really bad day. If one is not making frequent and repeated contact with the ground, it's likely they will stay right where they were placed. but as I say, I did have that experience and the experience stuck with me (no velcro pun intended...).

no worries. You guys make good stuff, if I see a hole in the market, maybe it's an opportunity for a trob09 rail...(just joking, my business is in a different industry...)Thanks for your understanding. We have some really cool new Benelli products in the late stages of development, but not a side saddle. If we ever do try to tackle that, whatever we release would have to be close in weight and profile to the soft velcro ones, while bringing something extra to the table.
If we may ask: what did you dislike about the soft solutions, or conversely, what do you prefer about the standard hard ones?
i found the velcro options to be less stable. In one instance, the Velcro card ended up flapping around as I moved, and falling off. I found this to be exacerbated when trying to switch cards in the middle of a stress event. I like Velcro, but I'm not sold on this as a solution for carrying extra rounds on a shotgun. Other are sure to have different opinions.
i look forward to seeing your new offering. As I say, you make great stuff.

I understand the purported benefits of the soft carriers, I've tried them, I'm not a fan.
But this has served to confirm to me that no Scalarworks rail with integrated rigid shell carrier is in planning/in the works. That's cool. I'm happy with my rmr rail and the aim point mount for my AR and I'm grateful to scalarworks for bringing cool stuff to market. I just wish an all-in-one rail, rmr mount (on the forward portion of the rail) and she'll carrier was an available option.

tac star makes a side saddle that does not include a top rail. It works, but is not ideal. The biggest drawback is that it mounts using a bolt that replaces the trigger-group retaining pin. If you over-tighten the bolt, the shotgun won't cycle. If you under-tighten, it can work loose. I use lock tite on mine to keep it in the sweet spot. The shell carrier itself is plastic, which expands and contracts with temperature makings shell removal easier or harder depending on conditions (even in the same day..), the plastic carrier mounts to an aluminum plate with small screws which need to be lock-tite-ed into place or they are gone.Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but what do you guys recommend for side saddles when using the scalarworks rail? I have used the Mesa side saddles before but I could not find a side saddle for the M4 that didn't have a top rail. Thanks
while I've just listed the negatives, it is the side saddle I use - until scalarworks makes a rail with an integrated carrier that is.

yes, not a good end-state for string of fire.My thought went to that case as well. Most of the time the owner ended up with the hammer down on a live round, so it wasn't a very reliable full auto setup. -
while 'accidental full auto' sounds cool, it can also have severe legal consequences. I had an aftermarket trigger in my SCAR which became a burst-fire trigger after a thousand rounds or so. All I could think of was David Olofson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Olofson
I'm glad to hear you were able to track down the problem for the owner.

I intend on leaving it on and changing the battery on my Birthday. Guess I'll go with my original idea of the RMR-01
Every year is overkill. I have a rmr 01 on its 3rd year with the same battery. Maybe consider every even-year-birthday...

Would like to mount a weaponlight on my new M4 and trying to get to 922r compliance to run a c-stock, figured the rail system would knock out two birds with one stone.
If you've got one you're willing to part with or have a lead on one let me know.
Thanks!
I've got one - put it on, took it off, put it into a box and let it sit there. pm me and we can talk terms.

I don't care for the OEM safety either. I like the DMW safety a little more than the TTI one.
Agreed. I have the DMW one as well. It's a good upgrade.

I checked the Carrier Comp site and the 5-round tube they sell is a direct replacement for the original albeit lighter/stronger. I still have the original 5-round tube so would that work as well?
what he said.Yes, the factory 5 round tube will work, it just doesnt help with 922r. The carriercomp tube is lighter, and adds value to the gun as they are recognized as high quality. You can absolutely use the original factory tube - it will work just fine with the 14" barrel. The Carrier Comp tube is lighter, corrosion-proof and provides a tingling sensation in the pants.

the "5 round" tube from CarrierComp is what you seek....

Fired through the M4:
Remington
- low recoil slug
- low recoil 00 buckshot
- #7 bird
Sellier & Bellot
- Slug
- 00 Buckshot
- #4 buckshot
Fiocci
- 00 buckshot
Federal
- LE low recoil 00 buckshot
- high power 00 buckshot
Winchester
- Ranger 1oz LE slug
All have functioned fine. there is a noticeable recoil difference between the 'low recoil' rounds and the 'high power' rounds, but all of them function and pattern fine.
I have designated the Federal LE low recoil buckshot and the Winchester Ranger as my "defensive use" rounds. I get a nice 3" cluster of 5 rounds at 50 yards with the slugs and can keep the 00 buck in a 9" circle out to 25 yards.

I have their Big Dot Tritium Site (SG-2010-3) on my M4, on their web site it is listed for the M1. Other than it's a damn tiny ass nut that attaches it, I had no other issues. I am very happy with it, I am also a Bog Dot fan having them on my carry weapons.
Good to know. I have trijicon sights only M4 now, but in a dozen years or so I may look to refresh...
(and yes, it is a tiny nut on the sight!)

I use Spuhr optics mounts on my long range rifles - Accuracy International in .308 and .338 Lapua - so I am familiar with their quality and reputation. here's a photo of the .308 for fun...
As I say, while this item is not for me, I am happy to see more players stepping into the Benelli aftermarket biz. photo of M4 for fun...

They must be using that C-clamp hold that is all the rage in the tacti-cool circles....

Pass........
agreed. As mentioned, I'll be sticking with my current configuration (FFT replica forend halves with an AVA light mount...) I just like to see more people thinking of things for the M4. AVA, Carriercomp, DMW, FFT, Scalarworks all make great stuff, but I like the idea of more people bringing stuff to market.

just saw this and thought I would share it:

I think I'll be sticking with my current configuration but I'm happy to see more entries into the M4 aftermarket...

I finally finished up my modifications to the C-stock limbsaver. I did the same steps as StragnerDanger with a couple of exceptions:
- hand tools most of the way instead of a drill press/milling machine - because I don't have a press/mill. Just a little slower-going and care taken. After drilling the hole, I'm not sure that drilling at an angle is all that important, it only matters for the thickness of the plate on the limbsaver and i can't see how an angle there would make any difference beyond making the hole ever-so-slightly smaller. location of the hole is very important though, so I started smaller and enlarged the hole to get just enough clearance to collapse the stock.
- I had some left over machine screws from some previous work on my SCAR - lo and below they were the prefect thread pitch for holding the Noveske plate parts in place - I just needed to shorten the screws and it was good-to-go.
with the right parts, this could be easily knocked out in an hour or so. Testing at the range went well, recoil reduction was noticeable, even with winter clothing on here in the frozen north. No failures in the 200 rounds or so of mixed ammo sent downrange (slugs, 00 buck, #7 bird, reduced recoil and full power).
I also have a number of parts from PMM on my SCAR and PS90. An adapter plate from them would be a good thing. You would still have to drill out the limbsaver plate. properly designed, the adapter plate could work like a template for the drilling.

as long as we're wishing, I'll go ahead and say it woulda been nice if Limbsaver just made the right partfor the M4 c-stock...
-
no goo - just some air and the soft rubber of the butt plate. That was my thinking exactly on cutting the Noveske plate - the plastic base of the limbsaver should be enough - all the Noveske plate is doing is providing mounting holes in the proper place...Good to hear no goo poured out of the Limbsaver. You going to trim the Noveske plate so the top and bottom mounting position has the Limbsaver compatible mounting hole? The heavy duty plastic base of the Limsaver should act as the support brace.I should receive my Noveske plates today. I'll mount one up and see if it functions and causes any cycling failures tomorrow hopefully.
-
This is correct. You can partially collapse the stock. I can't speak for California's laws, though.Re: "The noveske plate 'doesn't work' on the c stock because you can't fully collapse the stock with it. When collapsed, the recoil spring tube extends into the oem pad slightly and the noveske plate prevents this from happening. If you don't mind not being able to fully collapse the stock, it will work.".Seems it'd still collapse a little bit though, right? Still seems like the gun would still be considered an assault weapon in CA. Agree?
I have started down this path. I have already drilled the limbsaver to accept the receiver extension, I just need to cut the Noveske plate to allow it to attach the limbsaver pad. then off to test at the range...Interesting. Think it would be an issue to drill a hole into the Limbsaver to allow the receiver extension to pass into the pad? The plate might be okay to cut down into two pieces. -
Ill take the sirefire foregrip for 100
joerenew, just checking. I'd sent my contact info by private message. Can you confirm you still want the fore end?

I purchased one of those to put a T2 on my H&K 93 for the purpose of seeing the stock irons through the Scalarworks mount - it works like a charm and is a wonderful mount.
