So I did the carbon install on my black m4 and now I have a tiny bit of play on my barrel.  if I grab the gun from the hand guard I can move the barrel up and down making a clicking noise with the carbon tube installed. the locking cap on top of the mag tube is tightened all the way but it won’t keep the barrel from having play any one else notice this? Seems as if the mag tube is just a tad short allowing the barrel to move. I called briley this morning and left their tech guy a vm waiting to hear back

Too short or too long? I would think too long would cause extra play. I was not able to crank down on the retention cap like on the stock tube, probably should check my barrel too.

I'm on the fence but I have to make a choice because of lovely state laws.

I always want capacity but I prefer the purchase and feel of the PG stock.  Tough call for me.

What State? What is the law?

On the Benelli website, there is no mention of the 11701 being limited.  Since I just started looking at these a couple months ago, I didn't understand the history.  But, couple guys on calguns listed there 2020 M1014's as limited for $4k.  So, I was actually confused by this ambition.

Calguns has the worst marketplace. I found a 2020 M1014 for under retail at a Sportsman's Warehouse in NorCal.

It shouldn’t have any, but it is possible someone messed with it. I would try heating them area with a heat gun to try to break down whatever thread locker may be present.

What kind of screw driver are you trying to use to unscrew it?

I used the bit you recommend. I hit the tube with a MAP torch for 20-30 seconds and the retention screw came right out. I didn't see any loctite residue but something was keeping it stuck.

Side note: This is the part that gets people into trouble with their Mesa Tactical Urbino stock. Once you realize how little torque is required to remove the Stock Retention Screw from the receiver extension, it is easy to see how Locktited screws will back the Stock Retaining Screw out. The amount of torque applied is no match for the cheap snap-ring to contain.

You can see in this photo how the spring has partially ejected out of the Receiver Extension. This is due to the punch being in place. It is much more manageable this way.

I am stuck here. My retaining screw will not budge and I am giving it all I have, the slot ears are starting to deform from the torque. Is it possible the screw has loctite applied from the factory? This is an extension purchased from Beneliparts.

Well if you don't want to buy a $200 part to make it work, I'll trade you a Benelli pistol grip stock for it.

Or he can sell his stock and by an Urbino or standard stock with hundreds to spare.

I'm in the same boat as you.  I ordered one last week and my order still states "Pending" as well.  I reached out to them and they've told me there's one allocated to me.  Let's see and unless it states, "Shipped", I won't believe it.

I got a surprise today, SW notified me by email that my M4 is ready for pickup.

Yea I know the feeling.  That has been my dilemma with the communist rifles for the past few years.  At the start of 2020 ammo and budget firearms were unobtainium but the high end stuff was still available.  Now it seems like everything in the firearms industry just cant keep up with demand.  At least in my area I don't know about the rest of the Republic.

Unfortunately I am in California, the Bay Area to be specific. I make purchases for hobby but most people in this area are buying for HD/protection and scrambling to buy whatever they can get. When an M4 pops up for sale at a LGS, even with typical markups, there are a line of people with cash in hand ready to buy. I wished the market would get flooded with Glock 19s so first time buyers and panic buyers leave the more "niche" firearms to the enthusiasts.

  9. Very lucky, congrats. I got an "in-stock" notification from Riflegear this morning on an H20 model but is sold out before I could enter my card info. I still have high-hopes I will score a retail priced M4 even though bitting the bullet on Gunbroker is more and more tempting each day.

Remarkable, has that second batch of guns arrived yet?

I don't think so, I am patiently waiting. I have everything ready to go (7 round tube, US follower, US replacement forearm, Urbino stock, Sync mount and FFT handle).

The extensions won’t help you for 922 compliance. General consensus is you need three US made parts if using a pistol grip stock. If you’re using the oem collapsible stock, you need four.

    These days 922 compliance is easy. You have a lot of options to pick from;

    1. Trigger (FFT/Briley/Benelliparts)

    2. Hammer (FFT/Briley/Geissele/Shootingsight/Benelliparts)

    3. Disconnector (FFT/Briley/Benelliparts)

    4. Handguards (FFT/Surefire/Briley/Strike Industries)

    5. Trigger frame (A&S Engineering)

    6. Stock (Mesa Tactical Urbino)

    7. Full length magazine tube (Briley/Carriercomp/FFT/Dave’s Metalwork)

    8. Magazine follower (carriercomp/FFT/Briley)

How many parts do you need if the M4 comes with the C-stock, 3 or 4?
