Thanks for the help. I do not have an extended magazine tube. I will try what you have suggested. I will also remove the trigger group. It has been a long time since I have done that on a Benelli but as I recall when it comes out the carrier latch is attached. I can then check and clean everything.

I may be using the wrong term. I just looked at my manual. There are times, after the shell is in the chamber and the bolt closed, the carrier latch will not depress to allow shells to be put in the magazine. If I press the carrier control button (black button on the side of the receiver, the latch can then be depressed to allow shells to ne inserted in the magazine.

I have a new Montefeltro and am having a problem with the carrier latch. About 30% of the time, after a shell is in the chamber and the bolt closed, the carrier latch won't depress to allow shells to be put in the magazine. As soon as I press the carrier release button the latch then can be depressed to allow shells in the magazine. I have owned many Benellis in the past and have never experienced this problem. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
