  1. I have to make a correction: inside the stock there’s screw at the bottom. It fits into the hole of the recoil spring retainer. This is how the stock is secured.
  2. I took off the stock in my first cleaning. Plenty of videos are out there. The stock is “screwed” onto the recoil spring housing tube. There’re metal threads on the tube but the interior of the stock doesn’t have matching threads. I guess the channel in the stock is tapered. It’s a clever design. The connection is tight and doesn’t need the precision that metal threads need to align/stop the stock. I ran into two problems when putting the stock back on. First, I overturned 1/4 turn and couldn’t turn back. I clamped the stock between my thighs and loosen it. Second, the stock always felt a little off: the joint lines on both sides didn’t feel even. It took me a few days to figure out the fix: fine tune the stock after the trigger frame is put back. The rear of the trigger frame is inserted to a slot in the stock. It acts as rotation stop too. Center the stock along that. You only can feel the little room. This probably doesn’t matter in shooting. It just makes me feel good.
  3. I’ll keep brass brushes away now. I did the first cleaning. I had a piece of 3/16 dowel stick (leftover for clearing jam of.22). It was pretty handy to pass solvent soaked patches. I know aluminum or brass rod doesn’t do any harm but it just feels bad about metal-to-metal. BTW, I was surprised that the choke became loose after 75 rounds. I took it off w/o tool.
  4. The M4 manual states not to use metal brushes. I haven’t cleaned any smooth bore barrel before. I understand the interior surface is treated and is very hard. Is there any problem to use phosphor bronze brush to clean?
  5. I just ran a box of buckshots thru my new 11703. This is my first shotgun. I had a little trouble controlling the muzzle rise but I’m very happy with the kick. Let’s see whether I will feel any pain on my shoulder tomorrow. I felt it last time when I rented a M2. I like mechanic and gun work. Posts like that by Stranger Danger on the trigger module help a lot. Can somebody direct me to a post about how ARGO works? I see there are holes on the barrel feeding gas to the pistons. How do pistons absorb shock when being driven back? How does the ejector work? This a spring loaded plunger where the chamber contacts the receiver and bolt. BTY, the plastic trigger housing sucks. I chipped mine since I forgot to press the bolt release when putting back the trigger.
