What optics are most shooters using for HD and range use with Sync mounts?  I'm thinking HoloSun's offerings for now.

I'm running a Holosun HS515GM currently. I like the circle/dot reticle a LOT, however the sight is taller than the Aim Micro sight so it does not allow me to use the iron sights. I'd recommend the Aimpoint Micro (I think the 6 MOA H2 is best one for a shotgun) unless you're OK with the iron sights not being usable.

The 7 round card is nice, but 7 extra rounds is pretty heavy.

I'll be running the 5 round card on my M1 and the 6 round on my M4. The good news is that one can always cut down to one or two spare rounds only on the card.

  3. I spent some time researching this and found that most recommend using an improved cylinder or less (cylinder) for slugs. Many mentioned that while a light modified choke can be used, it significantly shifted the point of impact at 50 yards or more. The modified choke that's installed from the factory is NOT recommended for use with slugs.

  4. Hi,

New guy here but a Benelli fan since the late '90s (HK import M1 Super 90).

Just bought a new M4 (11707) and I'm going to buy a Mesa Tactical Urbino stock with Limbsaver pad for it. I'm going to use a Scalarworks SYNC mount and an Aimpoint H1 red dot on it. I'm trying to figure out if I need the Urbino stock with the riser or if the comb height is tall enough on the regular Urbino stock for the correct sight picture thru the Aimpoint?

I appreciate all the great info here and I've compiled a list of upgrades after reading a lot here. 7 shot tube on order along with US made follower and Wolffspring, Briley chokes, IWC light mount for a Surefire Scout.

Welcome!  Wealth of info here, enjoy cruising the threads!

I can't speak for the SRO completely but with the Mesa with pic rail and just about any type of low mount on the SRO, I bet your iron sights will not be very useable.  I bet they will just be a hair too short (mount and SRO too tall) to be ale to see through them.

I tried a Holosun Airmpoint T-1 clone on an ADM QD low mount on my factory pic rail and found it worked okay, but I lost my iron sights and it just felt like the optic sat too tall.  I ended up with the Holosun in a Scalarworks mount and am very pleased with it.  Irons are useable, optic sits low enough that it does not feel like it is gonna snag everything.

Something to consider and think about is what type of stock you are running too.  If you are using a collapsible stock, your site picture will be different than if you are running a fixed stock.

@bigdog02Are you using the OE stock or a Mesa Tactical stock with the riser? I'm looking at the Scalarworks mount and an Aimpoint Micro and I'm trying to figure out if I need the riser or the regular stock will work with the optic.
