That's an eye sore i can never un see now. Fn scars will always look different to me now lmao, never noticed this before even in person with the scars.

The 1301 recoils hard, probably due to its weight so I have been looking at loads in the 1250-1300fps range (it hasbeen completely reliable with low recoil slugs).
I went to clean it this morning (probaby about 120 or so rounds through it total) and found some shocking wear. See the pics below.
The piston housing is getting chewed up. And now the thin plastic tube the bolt carrier rides on is getting gouged. Will it crack? Who knows.This gun has already been back to Beretta for a bulged barrel. Oh, and today the action spring decided to unseat itself from the PLASTIC keeper and hang up
on the tube threads making disassembly a pain.
Below are shots of my 14 year old M4 and its pistons (second pic they have been cleaned with Hoppes). Not a hint of wear anywhere.
The fragillity of the 1301 is shocking. I think its best to just run it dirty and leave it that way.
And this is why the benelli m4 is still king of shotguns. Inb4 1301 shills seethe. Prepare for the seething.

Be very careful with the front post. The threads are very soft and the nut is lined with polymer. Tighten it just enough so it doesn’t move otherwise you are going to strip it. You might consider a blitzkrieg components front post. They are made of stronger metal.

Benelli owns stoeger. Beretta owns both benelli and stoeger. Stoeger is based in Maryland and imports firearms. Getting your facts straight before posting can help. Also, usmc 0311? Do you have proof to this claim, or is this a case of stolen valor?

I never "broke mine in" before i used light loads. I just put in whatever i had and it has worked flawless. When i held the 1301, it felt like a plastic toy, not to sound like a boomer, but the heft of the solid steel benelli vs the light plastic 1301, id be more trusting of the benelli in the chance id have to use the weapon for melee fights.

I have put around 8k shots through my Benelli m4, about 5k of them being light loads, never had a single issue with even fiocchi, which a lot seem to have issues with, or claim to. Been flawless.

I’ve fit a bunch of those FFT forends. I use a big flat metal file and remove material from the end closest to the muzzle. It’s a lot of trial and error to fit them since you don’t want to remove too much material. I use the seat ring at the base of the barrel to determine if the forend fits or not. Once I can’t slide a piece of paper between the ring and the receiver, I know it’s good to go. Without doing this, you could end up with light primer strikes since the bolt won’t fully rotate and lock into the barrel lugs.
Seems like a headache with anything FFT sells. I never heard one positive thing from FFT. I guess the one positive is hes from commiefornia and its easy to avoid those kind of people? Lol.

This is all from memory so it isn't word for word, but basically since most aftermarket forearms are aluminum or use bushings that don't compress, they have no give when tightening down the barrel.
If specs aren't exact then it could potentially cause pressure on the barrel lug during the recoil cycle.
So now i am curious what aftermarket parts are a no go for reasons like this.

It's the main reason I have always chosen to use other parts to reach 922R compliance.
Im curious how an aftermarket forend would cause this. Is it due to where the aftermarket forends put pressure on that part?

That is a common trend with cheap optics, yes. My go to optic brands are trijicon and nightforce. Both are durable as heck, and marine proof like the benelli m4. I can take a trijicon optic off and on repeatedly and it will still hold a true zero. I can bash someones head in with a trijicon optic and itll hold a zero and still function. I dont like cheap parts on my tools that i need to rely on survival with.

Yes. Improved cylinder is the one you want to use for buckshot and slugs. Federal flite control likes cylinder chokes

On my bolt carrier, the tail piece has that exact brown looking stuff on the top of it on the very back in the center. I didnt think anything of it until you pointed that out on your barrel.

Push the tab on the right side trigger guard with the red dot. Then pull the bolt back.
