UPDATE: this short light is plenty bright for its intended use, but there is quite a bit of splash om the barrel. The upside is that the front sight is wonderfully illuminated! A longer light body would mitigate the splash, but the extra ounces may be a deal breaker.

I did a Mounting Solutions Plus Scout Light Mount and an Arisaka 300 Series light. It looks quite robust and the light with a Malkoff head and it is great.

I have 2 older SF Scouts on a pair of short M4s. They bolt directly to the mount instead of needing a rail. I saw the Arisaka mount and coupled with a Malkoff light, should work well.

I am having a bit of a brain fart. Can you tell me what light you are using? If I need to piece together the light (body to fit the mount, head and tailcap), I am good with that. My M4 needs a light and there are few non-picatinny choices.
