Adding a scope mount to a M1

I have a M1 Tactical with ghost ring sites. I would like to add a scope mount for an aimpoint. I realize the reciever has to be drilled and tapped by a gunsmith. Has anyone done this? Are there any issues I need to be aware of? What mount should be used?

Also I want to keep the ghost rings and not remove them if possible.

Thanks

Hi pcgod

I haven't seen an M1 specific mount but there's a chance that a M2 rail might fit. I'm not sure how close the contours of the receivers match up. Here's an M2 rail from TSG you might e-mail them and see if they have any insight about how it might fit
