M1 Field forend mods for slug barrel?

I have the wood forend and want to get a slug barrel. What is needed to modify it for using it with the slug barrel? After the mods, can it still be used for the smooth bore? Will the M2 slug barrel fit a M1? Thanks.

The contour of the barrel channel is much larger on the slug forend than the smoothbore barrel forend. If modified, it wont fit the bird barrel. You just need to get another forend for the slug barrel. And yes, the M2 slug will fit the M1. You might need to modify the forend at the rear to accept the M2 ring where the extension screws onto the barrel. I'd look into getting an M1 RS barrel. They are probably cheaper than the M2 barrels because of demand.
