I bought this to mod to a std. rail, but decided not to use it. It's designed to mount on the Sidearmor Mod 2 rail system, and a std rail would have to be drilled for one of the screws to clear. This thing is a tank- ball detents for the shells, bulletproof clamps, and rounded edges. Purchased new from Sidearmor for $59.95- sale for $50 shipped. I have one I'm not using, I have the rail installed so I just have to throw the thing on if I want. At least I have the option to do so.
