I’ve had my M4 a couple years.  After breaking it in has run flawless till today on everything fro AA loads on f so keep field to slugs.

It has been a few months since I’ve been out, cold weather takes fun away.  Today, took M4 to range just to run a few rounds of buckshot and slugs along with my AR.  2 of 5 rounds didn’t get fed, like it short stroked.  Have not had this issue before with WW buck, these are not reduced power loads.  No issues with 5 slugs.

Thoughts?  Maybe a bad box?  Not what I expected and now wondering about reliability.  Am I overthinking this?  Will get out a few more boxes of buck in a couple weeks.

I would suggest you do a full breakdown and clean and lube it. Use some snap caps to do a function check of weapon. Keep an eye on your carrier and articulating latch and make sure they are operating as normal. If everything is operating as normal, then take a box of slugs, buck, and bird, then see what happens during live fire. If after doing all that and it is still malfunctioning then record what is happening exactly and let us know. Hope this helps. :)

I broke it down this afternoon.  Bolt was pretty dry - lesson learned is to make sure it’s lubed up before heading out.  Was lubed before storage but that was months ago, guess it migrated toward stock.  The Benelli lube is kind of thin, any suggestions on something that will last longer in storage?

I use Wilson Combats Universal lube and Lite lube. Depending on the weather and how much I am shooting is to which one I use. The Universal Lube is a little thick, but works great in the Benelli.

Ok, I cleaned and lubed the M4 and tried again.  One fail to feed.

Ejected shell, cocked hammer and then click - didn’t chamber a round.

Took her home, did detailed clean including recoil spring.  Lots of oil there but not gunked up.  I did find the magazine extension a bit loose.  Also front sight was loose, guess I’ll get to zero in with slugs again.

The WW shells seem to have plenty of power, is it possible I have a weak magazine spring?  Does not seem to do this with AA loads.

Ok, got the new Carrier Comp spring in and no change.  I did notice it only does not feed when there are 2 rounds left in the magazine.  Ejects prior shell and bolt closes empty - then click.  Rack bolt and it feeds up a new shell and will shoot last one as well.

Frustrating

Dang, im sorry to hear you are having trouble with it. I can not think of what else may be the issue. Maybe contact Benelli and see what they can do for you. Keep us updated
