SBE II - Patterning, Do fast steel loads pattern high?

Patterned my new SBE II today.

 

It shot Kent Fasteel 3'' 1 1/8 oz loads high. Shot 75/25 and 65/35 patterns. Even left right.

 

However, shot heavy game loads 2 3/4 " 3 1/4 Dram 1 1/8 oz 7 1/2's and got even left right patterns and 55/45 patterns top bottom.

 

Therefore, based on the field loads the point of aim probably isn't too bad.

 

Shot off hand not via bench rest.

 

Has anyone else noticed if Kent fasteel or ultra fast steel at 1500 fps type loads tend to pattern high.

I noticed that with an aftermarket choke it was a bit high. You can see my orange square was my aiming pint.

 

I found Kent didn't pattern very well in many of shots.

My M2 patterned about 60-40 with fast 1 ounce steel loads, and about the same with 3 dram 1 1/8 ounce trap loads. And the pattern was centered left and right on my gun as well. This should be ideal for my intent for this gun...waterfowling!

Just though of this, you could replace the front bead with the one the Nova uses. It is a larger bead of the same style and the threads are the same. This would essentially 'lower' your pattern to your bead.
