Anyone have a favorite recipe that they would like to share?

The weather has finally be at a warm temperature for several days now. This past sat. 4/17/04 I heard my TOMs gobble for the first time this year. Bagged a nice 2 year old tom 19.08lb 9(1/4)beard 1(3/8) spurrs. First tom with my sbe benelli and I was very pleased even though it was only a 20yrd shot. Now I am going after the the big one with my matthews bow. So hopefully I'll get this 5year old bird and have a state record. Which is the best bird Ive ever seen in my life.

birdman:You can get all kinds of how to's and what not from tv, books, and sites. But the best thing to do is practice your calling and get out there and try it. I am a self taught turkey hunter and I' ve made plenty of mistakes in the past and still had success. So always keep learning. For me personially, its easier to learn from experience. NOTE: The neighboring farm has been cutting some hardwoods. About 150 to 200 acres so far. Could that be the cause of silent uninterested toms? I ve been everyday for a week. Spotted 4 toms and one of those multi days. All within a couple hundred yards of each other. Still haven't heard the first gobble out of them.

Turkey season just opened up the past weekend. The weather has been changing from warm one day to cold the next and lots of ran. The turkeys have been very active but just don't want to talk at all. I've heard only one tom gobble one time since the season opened. Other people in the area are having the same problem. Does anybody have any ideas? Could it just be the weather?

Congrads. My opinion is that the strutting mount is one of the best looking mounts and the other would be Gobbling on a Limb mount. Both look great. The gobbling on a limb is especially great if you dont have enough floor space to put a strutting turkey cause its place on the wall out of the way especially if youngens are running around the house. Just a word of advise.

There is hope Benelli Southpaw. Just sit and wait and watch the tom's routine. Have a friend sit in the woods a little farther back that way the if the hens in come hen they will pass you and sit in your friends lap and the tom will be in range for you. A lot of time the tom will leave those hens in the middle of the day in search of other hens. Something else you can try is to sound like another gobbler to make the tom think that another tom is coming in to take his hens away. Kinda like rattleing antlers in the rut sort of spreak. Just be careful and know who is hunting around you in the same area.

I like to use diaphragm specially for those last few yards to cut down on movement. I use HS STRUT. The Mag Split V IV is my favorite but the Raspy Old Hen and Viper are my next favorite. Slate wise I like the the H.S. Triple Glass. I probably use that the most. Use different Pegs to help make different pitch and volume sounds. I also have a Quaker Boy Box Call. I rarely use it but its been great to fire up toms that are hen up. Making a jake gobble really gets to them. The type of wood that the box call is made out of makes a differents. I also have to say that Primos 4n1 hoot flute is great when it comes to locating birds in the morning. You really got to find what works best for you and what calls the birds like in your area. They might like it one day and not the next. Sometimes you just got to try everything you have. GOOD LUCK.

I just recently bought a SBE. I am not to familiar with choke tubes. I mainly got it to use for turkey hunting but I am slowly getting into duck and geese hunting. I would like to know your opinon on what chokes to use and/or if I should buy aftermarket chokes and what shots work best. Also what factory chokes would you use on quail and doves.
