  1. Tucker, To me the Cordoba handles, and swings like an SBE II. Which is one of the reason's, I like it so much. Now if I can just get it to cycle the light loads like the SS, I'll be happy indeed.

  2. I bought mine last September before early goose season. Since then, I have put around 800 rounds thru one and around 50 in the other. No signs of wear, on either one. Unless you count the normal scuff marks from hunting.

  3. birddog,

I shot it yesterday, and this morning. I gave it a complete cleaning when I got it home, and another one after both shoots.

My opinion is still out. I shot a round of trap yesterday to warm-up(25 rounds). Then shot two rounds of Sporting Clays. Each round was 100 rounds at a 12 station course. That totals 225 rounds. Today I shot 2 rounds of SC and 50 at trap. 250 rounds total.

I really like the shotgun, but like I said the verdict is still out. The reason I say this is I was wanting the Cordoba to be used for hunting and clays. This may or may not be the case. After those rounds, it still will not cycle 1oz loads with any reliabitlity. 7/8 loads? Forget about it.

I find this dissapointing. Both of my SBE II's will cycle 1oz loads all day. With them I could really care lesss, because they are hunting shotguns. My SuperSports will cycle 7/8 2/1/2 dram #8 target loads all day long. I was wanting the same thing out of the Cordoba, since it is suppose to be a hybrid. I will give it another try in the morning.

Overall finish of the shotgun is Excellent.

  4. Picked up a Cordoba with a 30" barrel today. Dealer called and left a message on the machine, that he had one in.

Should be able to shoot a round of SC tomorrow afternoon. So far I'm impressed with it. The stock does have a different look to it..

Cant wait for tomorrow afternoon. smile.gif

I'd trade all 5 factory chokes that come with the hunting guns for just 2 X2's in LM and IM.
  6. Talon,'

Sorry it has taken so long to reply. The Briley chokes are made by the Briley company. You can find their chokes in shooting catelogs, or their website.

I have called in all my orders to the company itself. Every choke has been at the house within 4 days. Cant ask for better service.

    Hope this helps.

One other thing. I would suggest going directly to SRM's website instead of WW. WW can give a person the brain pain. hehehe

You can also call SRM at 1-877-337-7873.

  9. I cant comment on the Nova. However my wife has 2 20ga M1's and love them. They have been nothing but reliable. The TM loads you are talking about are great also. The 3" #3's will knock a giant Canada iside out within 35 yards. She has been using a Briley X2 LM choke. Hope this helps.

I do not own a non-wood firearm and don't plan to presently....but may. Recoil is recoil no matter how you slice it. If you don't want the kick, go with a 20gauge or get off 3.5 ammo. I was hunting with my dad and granddad when I was 8 with a 12gauge single...nothing in 12gauge kicks too hard for me at this point...it's part of the game. Though I don't shoot 400 rnds a day at the wanna-be-hunter range....I do regularly drop a couple boxes a day in the field....I hunt with my firearms, not sport them at the range.

    Wanna be hunter range,????????????

You got to be kidding me.

I hunt with my shotguns too. I hunted in three states plus Alberta this year alone. I'm also going to Argentina in July for 5 days. Is that hunting enough?? I suppose the last 27 years spent in duck blinds and goose pits doesnt count either.

    Recoil doesnt matter???

That will be your secret. Point is recoil may not play a factor for the weekend warrior who pops off a few boxes a year., but for clays shooters, recoil does become a factor sooner or later.

Some of us travel and shoot Tournaments. That means shooting anywhere from 500-700 rounds (many sponsored shooters will got thru a 1,000 rounds a week) a week Plus another 250 rounds during Tournaments. Many men clay shooters go thru 20,000 shells a year. Women average 15,000

So please pardon us low life wannabes's

for trying to soften thing's up both in the blind and out.

  11. Friendly advice.

I would sugges the SBE II because of.

    1. Lack of recoil

2 Both of mine will cycle 1oz loads all day.

    3. For goose or crane hunting you just might want to use those 3.5 shells some day. If not, it's there if you ever do.

    4. Ease of breakdown for cleaning. As you know the barrel and top receiver are one piece.

You might also want to check out the new Cordoba.

    It s 3" shotgun.

    I wouldnt, and dont.

I'll stick with my 2 SBE II's with ComforTech. Reciol with them is the same a a BGH and 391 even thought they are gas operated and heavier. Plus my SBE II's have been nothing but Flawless.

Are you basing this on first hand experience????

I am just curious as to why you would make that statement.

Not bashing but curious. We all have out likes and dislikes. Myself I dont like the Nova, and Despise the Browning Gold.

I own 2 SBE II's. I have hunted in Alberta, South Dakota, Louisiana, Alabama, and here with them this past season, in different weather conditions to say the least. Not one single problem. In fact they have been nothing but Flawless.

They worked while gas op's were going dowm. The only action that was as reliable(more so if pushed) were the doubles taken, a Beretta 686 and a Merkel 477.

    randemgun

An H&K SBE I owned cracked its barrel ring in 99. Poor customer service followed. But I believe things are different now.

We had to use Customer Service recently with one of my wifes M1 20ga's. Turnaround time was 2.5 weeks. Excellent in my book.

Sorry your experience has been a bad one.

  14. My wife has two of them. They have been flawless and reliable. She shoots Briley X2 LM's with Kent Tungsten Matrix 3" #3's for ducks and geese.

I say go for it. My wife says she loves hers.

  15. The camo on my SBE II (Advantage Timber) has held up really well.

I have had several other shotgun's diopped by a company called Duracoat, with excellent results.

They do first rate work, and the camo is extremelly durable. When the SBE II starts to show wear that is where it is going.
