I always thought you could have an 18" minimum barrel length?

posted the turkey pics in the hunting pic post.

*note, the clothes I am wearing in the pic in post above, is exactly what I was wearing when I shot them, including sandals.

One of my two turkeys this season, finally one with the benelli. Dropped two on the one shot, this is the bigger one. Right at 40 yards.

I went out to the lake today to check trot lines and to see if there were any turkeys around. On my way to the lines on public property I saw a flock of turkeys with a good one struting around. I pulled over, parked. I was wearing a pair of blue jeans, a fishing t-shirt (white) a ball cap and sandals, I sprint into the tree row. There was 50 mph wind, so they had no idea I was running at them like a banshee. I got there, popped out of trees with the nova with undertaker, and 3.5" 2 oz of #4 in the chamber. They all took off running, I shot once and dropped the tom and a jake, filling my 2 tags. Great fun.

OldFart, I think you crazy. It ain't hardly required to have recoil reduction lol. If you read my post about my coyote hunt, I managed to kill 2 coyotes one at 8 yards and one at 12 with 3.5" 00 buck mags. The first shot one handed, and I was able to reload and fire very quickly and hit so they musnt be terrible. I use the 3.5" T shot on geese always. Plus I am only 17, so surely you can take it???

I would always get a 28" barrel, why would you ever go shorter!

185lb dressed. Biggest doe to date. A H&R ultra varmint. .243. Fed 210 primer, IMR4350 40.1 grains. Bullet was 100grain hornady SPBT.

I decided to go calling this evening at a spot very near my home. I took my nova with undertaker choke tube in, and had 3.5" 00 buck mags with me. I started calling with chicken in distress tape and about 6 minutes after I started I heard something running behind me. I turned and saw two coyotes running full bore right at me. Took me a split second to decide whether or not to crap my pants, lol, and spun the gun around and shot pistol style (wish I didnt do that) and the butt of gun flew into my gut with force bruising it, and barrel nearly smacked my face. I grabbed with left hand at forearm, jacked in new shell and wasted the partner yote too. First one died 8yards from barrel, and partner at 12 yards. Amazing fun for an evening.

A fun lil hunt at my Grandpas farm. I would post more exciting pics if I would have taken em. I never carry a camera around though. I will look for some others.

I am the one with the nova. A good opening day dove hunt last season.
-
For everything I use standard full choke, but turkeys get either the pattern master or undertaker tube, the geese get the pattern master.
-
I think ya are crazy for thinking they kick so much. I have shot a box of 5 3.5" mags in 00 buck out of my undertaker tube in mid summer wearing a t-shirt at papers or yotes. Never seen any problems. Use 3.5" T shot 1 9/16 oz for geese, nothing else does for me. I shoot these out of the nova 28" barrel no recoil reducer.
-
Note: That blood spot on back hip is not where she was shot. That is from when I had it laying and field dressing.
-
Here is the one I got this season.
-
Just curious as to the fact that I have some pics with my benelli and some hunts with it.
-
I have shot my Nova thousands of times, yet always with 3.5" mags, mainly 00 buckshot in the 3.5" I have problems with extracting/loading. Often a shell gets caught up beneath the one that should exject and they get stuck. If you could give me some suggestions I would aprichiate(sp) it.
PS. I have not had any problems with the 3.5" turkey mags of #4 shot 2 3/8 ounce.
Most exciting yote hunt this eveing. The NOVA RULED!
