  1. Has anyone else had problems with light primer strikes w/ their SBE2's? I disassembled by bolt and throughly cleaned all the parts yet I'm still getting very light strikes on the primer. The indent is deep enough to ignite the powder most of the time..the only probelm shell has been the Fiocchi Golden Pheasant load where the indent was too light to ignite the powder. Just curious if anyone else has noticed this.

  2. I bought a LH SBE2 earlier this year and went hunting with it yesterday. I was shooting Fiochi(sp) Golden Pheasants and noticed that the primer hits were very light compared to my 11/87. As a matter of fact one time the shell didn't even go off because the hit was so light. Has anyone else noticed this???

  3. Thanks Tucker301 for the information. One thing that I don't like about the Benelli's/Beretta's is that they don't fit me as well as my Remington's. Does anyone else have thia problem.

  4. I have a SBE II and would like to buy the shorter recoil pad that is shown on Benelli's web page. Where does one get one of these and any idea about the price? Thanks in advance.

  5. Hi, but at the risk of sounding dumb what are the differences btwn. the M1 and the Montefeltro? The obvious ones that I noticed were the Monte. has a slimmer forearm and a flat rib. Are there any others? Do any of you own a Monte. and have you been pleased with it? Thanks in advance..Randy

  6. I have a M1 w/the older Hardwoods camo. and found it to be very durable. The only "scratches" in the finish were caused when I hit the barrel against metal things like a barbed wire fence. I never had problems with "chipping"

  7. I just examined a new M2 black synthetic yesterday and was surprised to see that the barrel was not marked "CRIOBARREL". Are all M2's this way? If so why didn't Benelli put criobarrels on the M2?

  8. Hi BenelliBoy. I do not have a M2 but I do have a M1 and a 11/87. IMO, both guns have plus's and minus'. I like my M1 for utter dependablity under all conditions, however, if Iam shooting trap or another shooting sport where I would shoot 100plus rounds then the 11/87 shines. Another nice thing about the 11/87 is the availability of aftermarket accessories, barrels, parts, etc.. I also like the classic good looks of my walnut stocked 11/87 (my M1 is all synthetic). Its a tough call btwn the two. When hunting I usually take my M1 and when SC or Trap shooting I take the 11/87. Another BIG consideration is price. Here in N IL. a 11/87 goes for around $ 600.00 whereas a M1 is $ 800.00. See if you can someone that has one of each that will let you try them out and pick which feels better. Good luck....Randy

  9. I bought a SBE II with a 24" barrel in Timber HD and my only real complaint about the gun was the safety. I have since followed someone elses advice and had a gunsmith remove 2.5 coils of spring. The only other minor complaint I have is the recol pad....I don't like how it is attached.

  10. M1014, I must respectfully disagree with your comment that SBE 2 owners complaints are "trivial bs". While it is true that I have not heard or experienced any "major" problems w/the SBE 2 I believe that when one is spending $ 1300-1400.00 for a shotgun (especially a shotgun that is considered to be the premium autoloader) that problems regardless of how "minor" they are should have been resloved during the prototype stage. This of course is my opinion but I will stand by it....FIB

  11. I don't want to sound like a disgruntled SBE 2 purchaser but I must say that I am disappointed in the safety and I also don't like the way the recoil pad is "attached" to the stock. I think for the money Benelli should have noticed and rectified the safety problem prior to production. I know if Benelli would have consulted me during the prototype days the safety in particular would have raised a red flag. I also really don't care for the air dimpled stock. I much prefer Brownings Dura Touch stock for non slip grip. On a positive note I do think that Benelli made significant progress in shotgun mfg with the Crio barrel, tubes and recoil reduction system.. Just my opinion...FIB

  12. I just bought a SBE 2 in Timber HD w/a 24" barrel and my safety is very stiff plus as I posted in another thread it is loud when you take it off. I am disappointed that Benelli didn't notice/retify this problem prior to production. I also have some longterm concerns regarding the recoil pad. As you may know it is not held onto the stock by screws and during very cold/hot weather I worry about it possibly comming off.

  13. Hello all. I have read with interest the thread about the safety on the SBE 2 being stiff . I too completely agree!!! Another bad thing about the stiff safety is trying to QUIETLY switch it. Bird hunting wouldn't be a problem but I could see if I were tree stand deer hunting where that LOUD snap could/would startle a deer. Any agreements/disagreements??
