No, the M1 Entry is all that was offered. I don't know about the barrel issue.

I told him, "Officer, before I get my Proof of Insurance for you, I want you to know I have a concealed carry permit, and I have a pistol in a soft case in my glove compartment box. So when I open my glove compartment to get my Proof of Insurance it will be in there."

He said, ok, thanks for telling me, and he got out his Streamlight to shine on my glovebox. I opened up the glovebox, got my Proof of Insurance and gave it to him. He looked at it, gave it back and went back to his car.

He then came back, gave me my ticket, and then said, "Once again, I appreciate you telling me about your CCW." And then went on his way.

Pretty good all the way around.....accept for the ****ed ticket.

Good job. You did everything right. That is a text book example of how to handle a legally concealed weapon with an officer.

Benelli USA just sent us a collapsing stock. It's two pieces, a pistol grip and the butt assembly. The pistol grip goes on just like the full-length stock. The buttstock assembly slides over the recoil spring tube, which with our standard pistol grip stock M4 was already notched for the buttstock in the rearmost position, with no collapsing.

    Great. Thanks for the reply.

Heck, I had my first 1911 back then.

Count me in on a group buy. Who's going to coordinate it? How about you Ed?

I don't think that the quality is any better than non- HK marked Benellis, however the HK-marked ones do command a little higher price on the secondary market.

They both are very good. I seem to prefer the Aimpoint on the Benelli's, especially the M4.

Will the receiver be scratched if you ever want to take off the side saddle?

Yea Tex, I understand what you're saying. The thing is, if the Benelli M4 is so prone to failure, how in the heavens did it ever finish the military's trials with a good enough score to become the next combat shotgun? All the reviews I've seen regarding the military-tested M4s say they're about as reliable as you can get, like you could use it as a club if you had to.

Anyway, so far it seems most of the trouble has been with the M4s that have 4 gas ports instead of 2.... If I remember right the limited edition M1014 is pretty much the exact same model as the military issued M1014 except for the collapsible stock and mag tube. So I think I'll be okay.

Don't worry jakjakman, that's a fine weapon you have there. You'll be OK. smile.gif

Where are you getting your information that the earlier models have better quality control M1014?

Not to bust anyone's bubble, but I bought the following:

On Friday, 03-Mar-06, I bought an M4, new in box at American Fireams Specialty Company of Grandview Mo. for $1,477.85. This included government extortion. (tax)

On Sunday morning, 05-Mar-06 at 05.00, I bought a 1014 with mag. extension off of Gunbroker.com with total cost, after shipping & dealer transfer, for $1,420.00 from New Barn Gunsmithing in Oakland Il. The M1014 now sports an EoTech 552 Military holographic sight.

    Now, to try them out.

Two tactical Benelli shotguns in two days! Wow!

Well john h, the Benelli M4 can be used for a variety of tasks: three gun tactical shooting matches, home defense, or just shooting paper at the range just to name a few. smile.gif
