  1. About $180ish from Mann & Sons (at least that is what it cost them last year), and $357.14 from Brownell's.
  2. Does anybody know a source for a replacement reciever cover (not the receiver itself, but the cover) for a 12 ga. Cordoba? I tried Brownells and did not see it.
  3. You are right... the only time you wold really want to use one is in a game like trap, where otherwise you are always hitting the guy next to you. Some trap fields even require them.
  4. Nobody makes them for any model of the Cordoba. Even the one out there that is supposed to fit all models of shotgun (uses double-stick tape to attach) does not work because the side of the reciever is not even. The only thing to do is use a rubberband.
  5. I would not go below 26" if you plan on using it for dove or any other wing shooting. The short barrel is mostly just for ease in the field. Usually, though, the rule of thumb is the longest barrel you can comfortably move about with. I hunt turkey from a blind, so I use a 28".

    Benelli Trap

I would not get the nova for trap; you really need something with a higher comb. The super nova at least gives you that option. Two disadvantages, though, for both would be only 28" barrel (as opposed to 30" for the cordoba and ss) and field rib (as opposed to tappered target rib).
  7. Cordoba is all matte black; the SS has a gloss barrel, silver reciever, and carbon finish stock. Same gun, though. One is flashy for the range, the other is low-profile for the field.

    Benelli Trap

Either the 30" Cordoba or SuperSport (same gun) with the raised comb insert.
  9. I have my Nova for sale on gunbroker. It has a bunch of add-ons made to it (limbsaver, recoil reducer, truglo sights, trulock choke). http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=77347402
  10. I believe the Benelli web page says it is a 10mm rib. I was looking for a magnetic rear sight of some sort, but none of them come big enough. This might do the trick, though.
  11. This is why I was hoping for a saddle mount (like B-Square makes). Still not luck yet finding one, though.
  12. Thanks for the help!
  13. I have a 12 ga. Cordoba and would like to use it for a turkey hunting trip. I can use a rifle in the Fall, so I will only be using it one day a year in the Spring. I don't see the need for a totally new gun for one day a year, and since I hunt out of a blind, I'm not too worried about the 28" barrel. Does anybody know of a scope mount (sort of like B-Square) that would fit? Anything for the SuperSport or Raffaello should work too.
  14. Does anybody know the thread size of the front bead on the Cordoba?
  15. I shot 4 rounds of trap today (100 shells total), and the barrel goes in and out like a hot knife through butter. God bless the man who invented the Dremel.
  16. I was patterning the shotgun yesterday, and the barrel still stuck in the reciever. It was much easier than before to get out, but I still had to wait until I got home to work it out. So this time I took the grinding wheel to the inside of the reciever, and it works perfectly. I just need to re-blue the grinded section.
  17. I've borrowed my friend's Dremel in the past, but am going to the store tomorrow to get my own. The big reason I don't want to send it in to Benelli, is that they said it would be a 6-8 week turn around. This means either sending it in now and missing Spring Turkey, or waiting for hunting season to end and be without it for most of the summer. I'm a teacher, so this is when I do the majority of my trap and skeet shooting. Even if it is just a bit better, I would like to be able to hold onto it until September, then I could get it back for Fall turkey.
  18. UPDATE: I called Benelli. They said they never heard of this happening before. In fact, they said they only heard of the opposite (the fitting being too loose). So I gave it another go, and was finally able to get it out by finding a small area that sticks out and using a brass punch on it to knock the reciever out. Inspecting the inside, I can see the worn marks where it is too tight. I think I'll use a Dremel with some Flitz to polish the entire area. Then I'll use some choke tube lube before re-assebling it. That might be stronger than the regular oil I was using before.
  19. Well, I put 50 rounds through it today and can't get the barrel out for the life of me. I will call Benelli tomorrow and see what they say. If they want me to send it in, I might wait a few weeks so I have a gun for turkey season.
  20. Well, I don't have the other problem and so far I've shot 8 rounds of trap (200 shots total). I will go out tomorow and try to turn it left/right. It's a shame, this is not only the best handling, but best shooting shotgun I've ever owned. I've never really been happy with anything else I've had (Winchester 1200, Winchester 1300, Browning Golden Calys, Huglu CZ-USA 712, Remington 870, SBE I). This is the first shotgun where I thought "finally!". It does great with trap (which is what I mostly do) and I can bring it for field work too.
  21. I forgot to mention that it is a Cordoba model.
  22. After a day shooting, the barrel assembly is almost impossible to get out of the reciever. I can't even get it out at the range. I have to leave it in, and put a bunch of oil in there and give it a few hits with a rubber mallet to get it out. Is this normal? Is there some way to prevent it? I greased the barrel assembly before putting it in, and nothing.

    Raised Gel Comb

I use the raised for trap (this is the traditional style), then I use the regular style for skeet and turkey hunting.
