  1. I agree that most over/unders are more easily tuned to fit vs a synthetic stock like the super sport. The over/under also has a 2nd choke which can be an advantage as well. I have several over/unders but sometimes I just feel like shooting the Benelli Super Sport. Right now I have an old injury / a slight fracture in my shoulder blade - and while some weight lifting is helping me get the surrounding muscles a little stronger - the Benelli is a lot lighter and doesn't wear on my shoulder like a 9# over under does especially if I need to shoot in a 4 day tournament. So I'm fooling with the fit on the Benelli ...... and I'll keep it up until I have it tuned up just right - but at 6'5" and 280 lbs I need about 1/2" increase in the length of pull to get it really dialed in.
  2. Lots of pros and cons - I have semi-autos, o/u's , pump guns, even a bolt action shotgun. I like them all - but for different reasons. I especially like the Benelli's because they shoot clean - vs the gas guns which are really dirty after about 100 rounds. But an O/U is a very versatile gun - and I use them in the field, sporting, trap, skeet etc - but I will also use my semi-auto for all the games as well. The cynergy is a fine gun - as are all the Brownings in my opinion - the XS Skeet, the XT Trap, etc are all very good guns - but I think the cynergy and the XS Skeet are some of the most versatile guns that Browning makes. I would also take a look at the Benelli super sport as well - it's a very good all around gun. Have fun with your selection process - and go to the club and ask around - see what guys prefer and why ....
  3. Talk to the range master and some of the guys hanging around - and just tell them you're new to the game - and ask if they'll help you out a little. As long as you're safe - noone really cares - and just have a good time. At my club we frequently help out new shooters - maybe a little discussion beforehand - and then we just walk them thru the stations. Don't let it get you down - come on out and play.
  4. I think you need to try some of the bigger dealers in your area on that gun - it should be available - and the 28" barrel is really the preferred barrel for most field shooting - and more suitable for trap, skeet etc. I like the comfort tech system - but if you want the wood stock - it shouldn't be that much more recoil - and there are lots of ways to decrease it if you have to.
  5. Supershooter - not sure what Benelli will do but the rep seemed to be telling me there will be another butt pad available that is longer. But it would be really nice if they could come up with a shim system that would make it more variable.
  6. I have the same problem you have - and in talking to a Benelli rep recently he told me they may have something by the spring. In the meantime, I'm considering bandsawing the current butt pad in hald - and then gluing in a 1/2" pad (kick eez, etc ) and dealing with it that way. Worst case - it'll cost me another butt pad - so I'm waiting for a replacement before I cut the one I have. But I saw an article in one of the clays magazines about a year ago - that someone was offering a pad to increase the length of pull - but now that I need it, I can't find the article. Maybe someone else knows ....
  7. Will the super sport cycle with 7/8 oz loads ( say at 1150 fps ) - if not, how about 1 oz loads at 1200 fps ? On the adj comb - is it possible to essentially make it paralell with the rib - by using spacers on the receiver - or how can you make it paralell ? Thanks in advance for your time.
