  1. Those 5 shot kill em dead right now, break bones and not so many little bb's to pick out of your dinner. 5's are my favorite, and 6's get a close second place if thats all I have left.

I love that 1 1/4 oz 20ga 3" load, thats a real killer in my opinion.

  2. First time out, still in college, probably dont have too much cash to get stuff with.

Never fear; use an orange coat and hatfrom deer hunting, sacrifice an old pair of jeans to the brush, and forget the game back as a newbie you might get a buddy to haul your bird for you.

If you can afford the time to get out and shoot trap or skeet it will all help.

I just shot two birds on Saturday, its all good fun.

  3. Nice looking late season birds.

Its all over up here in Wisconsin, we never even made it out the last weekend because everthing we hunt was froze in. If you could manage to find open water or a little creek you could find birds. Still some local birds around, but just to look at now.

As for now we are still digging out of a 10" plus blizzard, super cold and windy, so not a whole lot of fun at the moment.

    Good luck

  4. He has a golden in that picture, my neighbor raises them and lots of other species as well. Our club has even released some black colored roosters, they called the black rocks guess the name is from the city in Michigan they got the chicks from.

  5. To me the I-12 and Stoeger M2000 share much of the same problems when it comes to the bolt handle flying out, and from all accounts there has not been a good solution for this occurance.......I might be wrong but I does seem to be a reoccuring theme with the M2000 as well.

  6. I have nothing to add right now. I'm in Africa. Which is killing me because I really want to be out pheasant hunting.

However, next fall (which for me starts some time in March) I plan to go out and do some upland game bird hunting.

They hunt pigeons, dove, a bird called the francolin (looks like a small hen pheasant without long tail feathers) and guinea fowl.

Love to see some photo's from your African safari's!!

  7. If you find your really hung up on the 3 1/2" shell you might really want to consider an autoloader over a pump, the recoil out of the pump shotguns might be a bit more than you bargained for. As for which brand well you decide, but stick to one of the major manufacturers.........so dont skimp on quality......and get the one that fits you the best.

  8. Try shooting that bottom barrel first Sgt Cathy, it seem to eliminate a little of the muzzle flip you get when you shoot the top barrel first......so you might need to swap your chokes around.

  9. For any of you trap or skeet shooters who load their own you probably have dabbled with field loads, for me these are far more economical and rewarding to shoot than factory ammo.

Consult your Lymans book and check under Remington or Winchester hulls in 1 1/4 or 1 3/8 oz loads using blue dot or IMR 7625, some great loads in there.

  10. Honestly I havent bought factory lead game loads since I started reloading for trap and skeet, so I have no idea on what the factory ammo does in comparison to my own. #37 mec bushing, IMR7625, 1 3/8 oz of shot/wad in a Win AA hull kills em dead.....you pick your shot size.

  11. Ok, after a weekend of duck hunting and lots of good shooting opening day I will have to agree whole heartedly that the recoil from the Hypersonics is brutal. If your on the recoil shy side you might not like these too much. As for the reduced leads and all that hype, well the verdict is still out.

A friend shot Win Experts and the dead birds between us dont seem to know the difference. A centered bird was a dead bird.

  12. Nice looking bird Tucker.......I shot one like that last fall really early in the morning setting down into the decoys, and from their I mangaged to blow the holy heck out him at 15 yards.......big bull can too and he was just shot to pieces.

I would do it again, its impossible to pull your shot for a longer approach.
