  1. I have an M2 20ga and I absolutely love it, fast handling, patterns really well with no tox. I really like the slimmer design over the 12's, became my main waterfowl gun after one trip. The Grip Tight coating on the fore-end and butt stock make the gun really easy to handle on cold, freezing wet days. I did have an issue with mine that has since worked it self out, I highly recommend the M2, I had no problem keeping up with the other 5 12's in my group.

  2. My wife bought me a M2 20 ga for Christmas, and during routine cleaning, I noticed these marks at the rear of the receiver:

I also inspected the bolt and found the root cause:

Just a heads up for everyone that has one to inspect it for similar damage. I installed a Sure Cycle and that eliminated my problem, but for others it might be advised to check theirs. I looked at my M2 12 ga and my SBE II and found no similar damage.

  3. I replaced the action springs in both the M2 and SBE II with the Sure Cycles, and while cleaning the SBE II I noticed it came loose from the receiver while breaking it down to clean, which got me to thinking, do I need to put some put some green or blue thread locker on it? Something that requires a little more effort to remove?

  4. I measured the factory chokes and came up with these measurments Cyl .730, Imp Cyl .720, Mod .710, Imp Mod .690, and Full .680

Now the aftermarket chokes will be slightly tighter:

    Trulock are:

    Cylinder .725

    Skeet 1 .720

    Imp Cylinder: .715

    Skeet 2 .710

    Modified .705

    Imp Modified .700

    Full .695

  5. I patterned the Dead Coyote tubes and it shot everything tight, under 40 yds it would be devastating, I was killing crows out to 60 yds with no problem, was hammering them. I tried some Bismuth reloads around 1200 fps and the patterns were 100 % at 40 yds, I didn't get any pellets outside the 30" circle until I crossed the 50 yd mark with the SBE II. I tried it in 3 guns and only had 1 flyer outside 30" at 40 yds with the 935, the SBE II, and the M2 both stayed inside the circle. I am using a Hogdon reload in a 2 3/4" Remington hull, with 1 1/4 oz of #4's over longshot powder. I also tried them with the TM, they were tight but not as tight as the reload, and I suspect it was because of them being around 1300 fps and higher.

  6. Have y'all looked at the Hevi-shot Dead Coyote choke tube, on the Benelli it is .670 constriction id with a 1 1/2" parallel section, I purchased one for my SBE II and one for a Mossberg 935, and planned to pattern them this week, but a stomach virus has prevented that, I will post results the minute I am done.

    They tear up your thumb.

They rust if you put them next to a glass of water.

You have to press some goofy release button to get a shell to feed from the magazine.

They don't pattern well with buckshot.

They kick too hard and make me cry.

They won't cycle light target loads (which are great on migratory ducks and geese by the way).

I'm still trying to figure out why I even own one

Because like me you have too much money and too much time to spend tinkering with it, I had several problems with both my M2 and SBE II jamming, quit using Federals and the problem went away, go figure!
  8. I replaced my action spring tube with a Sure Cycle, no reason other than I wanted to, the gun was brand new. Tucker and Mudhen are absolutely 100% correct. I took my tube apart with little effort, the only problem I had was removing the tube from the reciever, it took a considerable amout of effort, there is no way you could have it come loose by removing the stock retaining screw without heat. The new Sure Cycle came with instructions to not apply any threadlocker on either end. My stock retaining screw looked exactly like Tuckers photo. T Reed I have read many of Tuckers and Mudhens post, and have asked them several questions, and have yet to be steered wrong by anything they have ever said.

  9. We are trying to start a Delta Waterfowl Chapter in FT Worth and the surrounding area; we want your input and request your attendance. The meeting will take place Thursday, May 25th, 2006 at 7:00 PM at the Hof Brau Steak House on Hwy 377, Denton Hwy, just south of Loop 820. If you’re a member or not you are free to attend, there will be food and drinks available, we are in our infancy, so we cannot at this time furnish them. We will have Dennis Blevins, a current Delta Waterfowl Board member and Chairman of the Longview chapter given a presentation, He is a long time duck hunter and this should be enjoyable for all. Please feel free to email me if you’re interested: [email protected] HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE! Thanks Darryle

  10. I tested them this morning, worked really well with Kent Fasteel 3" #2's and #4's 1 1/8-oz loads, they were better with the #4's, but only slightly. They worked fairly well with 2 3/4" 1 1/16-oz and 3 1/2" 1 3/8-oz, but the 3" was tops. I also tried Kent's Tungsten Matrix in 3" #3's and #5's 1 1/4-oz loaded at 1525 fps, also a solid performer, with results similar to Kent's Fasteel 3". The patterns were fairly solid with an average of one hole around "5 in long and maybe 3" wide. I tried several different Trulock tubes, I have 7, from cylinder to full plus the 2 Benelli Waterfowl tubes (which are the Trulock Precision Hunter tubes with Benelli's name on them, buy the version from Trulock, much cheaper!), non- ported. I have enough data to know what tube to use for what situation and purchased 2 cases of 3” 2's and 4's 1 1/8 oz loaded at 1560fps. I have also purchased several slower velocity Fasteel loads to try them out, based on Mr. Trulock's recommendation, and wanted to see what the slower loads did for my pattern. If your going to buy the tubes I highly recommend calling Trulock, I spoke to George Trulock himself for over 40 minutes and he provided me with a ton of info, and he is truly a really nice guy, He earned my business for life! I will also be purchasing the .030" and .040" constriction superwaterfowl choke tubes and give them a whirl as well.

  11. I paid $38 for the 2 Benelli Extended Waterfowl tubes, they are made by Trulock for Benelli. I also bought a full set of Trulock Precision Hunter series tubes. After talking to George Trulock himself, I will be purchasing a Superwaterfowl Choke as well. Just for the record, I am Crazy

  12. I have both a SBE II and a M2, and I love both, I put the sure cycle stainless action spring in both guns, and I haven't had an issue with either gun cycling light loads. I never used them before replacing the action springs, so I can't comment on either one in factory form, but they are each a sweet shooter. I wanted a gun capable of 3 1/2's so I bought one of each. I will probally shoot the m2 more during duck season, since they both shot 3's and 2 3/4's equally well. If your wanting a gun capable of 3 1/2's I would go with the SBE II, but my two shoot as close as two guns possibly could, so it would be hard to recommend one over the other. But I will say this, I don't think you will be sorry about choosing either one, besides my old Beretta A-303 20 ga sporting these are the best shooting guns I have ever owned! I paid $1044.95 for my M2 Max 4 28" and $1234.95 for my SBE II Max 4 28" at Sportsmans Warehouse in Lewisville, Texas

  13. Mudhen, I recieved the chokes this morning, they measure .710 for decoying and .700 for passing. I measured the factory chokes and came up with these measurments Cyl .730, Imp Cyl .720, Mod .710, Imp Mod .690, and Full .680, I measured the outside diameter with a pair of calipers and subtracted the wall thickness. Based on the measurements I really didn't need these tubes. I will pattern the shotgun and find out for sure. They do say trulock right on them. I will call trulock and talk to them monday, and possibly order a couple of their super waterfowl chokes. My question is this, is the cylinder tube going to mimic the actual barrel id? If not can you possibly tell me what it is? I have read several of yours and tuckers post, and trust you two. I have learned alot from you and him. I do get a big kick out of Tucker as well, he can be rough around the edges, which I like.

  14. I am new to the Benelli Forums, and recently purchased my first Benelli. I have a couple of questions, I have read on other forums where people have had problems with steel shot "swelling the tube in the barrel", So I am wondering what is the largest steel shot I can safely shoot thru the factory tubes, and has anyone one else had this problem. Do I need an extended tube? I appreciate any and all help! Thanks Orphan
