  1. We did great in the beginning of the season. I think we killed around 85 ducks in about 7 hunts, then it went all downhill from there. Numbers aren't important to me, but I think we totaled around 160-170 ducks as a group. The later part of the season I really struggled. In about 10 hunts, I was only averaging 1 bird per hunt. The geese never hit any of the fields I have permission on. I was lucky that a buddy was able to bail me out and get me on some geese. I think I killed around 30. Over all, mediocre season, but definately not my best...I too am ready for next season. Have a baby on the way, bass to catch and a 1 year old pup to train. Gonna be a busy off season....bring on October 2010.

  2. ....sorry to hear that, but I laughed a little by the way you explained it....lol. I have been reading on them and some say that they are cheaply made. I've never seen one in person. I was considering trying one, but I've decided I want an M2 .20 ga instead....Did you break the Silver a while back too?

  3. I guess it depends on what you call "high flying". If they are much further than 35 yards, I don't even bother. Too easy to cripple a bird only to watch it fly away. For that, I usually shoot 3" 2 shot...

  4. Here's a farm pond that we were invited to hunt. I got the widgeon in this pic mounted. Not nearly as pretty now as it was then...

Me and a buddy who recently moved away after graduating college...2 SBE's

  5. I couldn't let my ole' faithful SBE go unnoticed....Paint chipping off and all...

Here is another hunt where the SBE was used. There were 6 SBE/SBE2's in this one...Started off slow, then all the sudden we were covered up. SHould have held off on the divers, but we never exspected all the green to show up. Sorry for the hens...

  6. Here is a picture of a 1 bird, 1 shot. I was bored and after seeing Mudhen's pics over the years, I decided to take what I thought was a cool pic. Also, don't mind the Beretta. It gets split time in the field with my ole' SBE...

On this hunt, it was 4 degrees out with wind gust of 40+mph. Blowing snow and blowing decoys translate to dumb geese. 5 man limit...All the guys were shooting berettas, and so was I. They used Remoil on it while I used Breakfree CLP on mine. Needless to say, my gun killed all but 2 or 3 of these. We took turns with mine...

  7. That is one of the flaws in owning a camo gun. Doubt it will all chip away. My SBE is 3.5 years old and is fading a little and chipping. It's a duck gun and I don't care what it looks like. Don't get me wrong, I pamper the **** outta it when I am done after each hunt, but it is a duck gun first. If I wanted a pretty gun, I'd bout a legacy or O/U.....Just my thoughts....Good luck, and them Nova's are bulletproof.....

  8. I shot 2 boxes of 3 1/2 inch shells while duck hunting South La this past week, and sure enough, my brand new Super Nova jammed badly at one point. The "action release lever" became stuck and would not eject the shell. It totally froze up and I could not move the forearm at all. As more ducks were flying in, my only choice was to remove the barrel, which allowed me to pull out the shell, and when I did this, the release lever released. Worked fine afterwards, but I went to 3 inch shells. Anyone ever seen this happen before???

yeah, my nova does it with only Remington shells. Not sure why. 3 or 3.5" doesn't matter. Maybe because the brass expands too much??? Not sure. I normally shoot Kent or Federals and it's been fine....

  9. I'm glad I was able to get my laughs in today after reading all this. I am sorry that some of you guys are having rust problems with your guns. You say that you shouldn't have rust problems after leaving it soaken wet for 28 hours, but I don't see many people that are ignorant enough to spend that kind of $$ on a gun and let it sit like that. Benellis are like any other gun, they need to be kept up and maintained like anything. Just because they cost alot, doesn't mean that are designed to handle neglect. I get on here and read all these horrible things about jams, etc. I have a SBE, probably a a late 03' model that is max 4 camo. The camo is wearing off in places, chipping in other places, has been dropped in the bottom of a creek, been through the worst conditions possible. From freezing rain to cold crisp -10 weather. This gun has never, ever failed. It gets a good cleaning after most every time it's out in the field. I think I have had one malfunction (my fault) in about 8-10K rounds through it. Guys, it's not rocket science, take care of the gun and it will take care of you. PERIOD.
