  1. Could you show us your shell stop modification?
  2. Extremely well done, especially the picture.
  3. Congratulations! What other friction areas did you polish? After hand polishing w/ steel wool, my bolt head will now rotate consistently with about 1.5" of free travel. I am looking forward to testing it. I'll bet trap/clays loads will fire and cycle consistently. You have nothing for which to apologize. We appreciate your information.
  4. DB polished the shoulder on the upper track on the bolt, which guides the pin on the top of the bolt head, causing it to rotate. He used steel wool on a dremel. Do a search.

    Trouble W/ SBE

Does anybody know exactly what problem Benelli CS is referring to when they apparently say there is a problem on some barrels caused by a particular vendor? Although it sounds unlikey, I would like to figure out how to fix it without sending anything back to Benelli (like the safety spring.) Can anybody explain how the ejector works. Surely it must have an affect on stovepiping. I don't know how to clean mine; I don't know if it needs to be oiled, and if so, how much.

    Trouble W/ SBE

Thanks! I should be able to shoot some 3 dm 1.1/8 loads in about 2 weeks. I'm having a bit of doubt regarding the "soft shoulder" problem, as a lot of us must wear substantial insulation during the winter months. Still, it'll be interesting to test this solution. Did you replace the pin with the flat spot yet?

    Trouble W/ SBE

Unless I missed something, I'm still hoping to hear from Deadly Benelli if polishing the track on the bolt solved the failure to lock problem. I've had the same issue, but have been unable to test the results at the range due to injury.
  8. I received an SBEII in '04 that replaced an 1187 that could no longer handle 3" shells. I really liked that gun, once I got the stock adjusted, but there were too many repairs after 10 years. I am very satisfied with the SBE II. It is so easy to set up the stock, with the raised combs and shims, (instead of moleskin and electrical tape.) It appears that this is a tough gun and should last me several decades. It is easy to access and clean. However it is not perfect. I too have had the occasional failure to lock, mostly with 1.1/8 oz loads. I saw "Deadly Benelli"'s post about polishing the shoulder area of the upper track on the bolt with steel wool. I didn't use a dremel, but it appears that the bolt head rotates much more consistently. I can't wait to test it at the range. Thank you DB (did it work?) and all who post useful info on solutions. I had one stovepipe this year in South Dakota which nearly caused me to sin. 1 in 750 rounds is great. I do not discount those who report more malfunctions. Salutations to Benelli for sponsoring free communications which will help lead to solutions. Sarcasm notwithstanding, thank you again to Mudhen, Tucker and everyone contributing their knowledge, information and experience. I wish I had some to contribute. [One small thing I can do is to provide guidance to any poor soul (hopefully no one here) who has suffered a domestic violence conviction, and still wishes to legally hunt and possess firearms.] Bottom line- very satisfied owner. With some minor adjustments, this gun is as good as it gets.
