Just to help drive home a point the guys are getting at. I use my Nova pump quite often to shoot trap just for entertainment. I have never shot competitively and probably never will. But occasionally my Step dad, brother, and friends get the itch to shoot some clay pigeons on the farm. We might burn up 1000 rounds between the 5 or 6 of us and many boxes of clays. But if we start shooting double pulls I personally have allot of trouble re-pocketing the gun against my shoulder when I go for the second pigeon. Which ends up leaving a huge bruise on my right shoulder. I love my Nova for hunting, I actually have added a few things to help with the kick of a lighter gun. But even on a great day hunting rabbits I might shoot the gun 10 to 15 times on the farm. Where you may shoot it several hundreds of time shooting clays.

Great I appreciate your input, I assume where ever I order or pickup the scope from would most likely carry the Weaver brand. Holding out on getting the scope till I actually have the barrel.

Thanks for the suggestion going to give both items a shot. After some research that does look like a really nice scope for a shotgun. And honestly the price isn't bad at all. Here is my next question and I guess this one is pretty important from what reading I have done so far. What would be the best set of mounting rings to use with the Slug hunter scope mounting it onto the cantilever barrel. I hear the weaver name allot but this will be the first gun I personally have installed a scope on.

After a ton of searching I found two sites on the net selling a cantilever benelli barrel they both list as model # 81055 for $210. Which is far better than the $400 my local dealer wanted. I am not a gun enthusiast I own 3 nice guns 1 for each category. I have my Benelli Nova 12ga pump, my Springfield Armory 1911 Long slide 45 and a really old but reliable Rossi 22 gallery gun thats great for squirrel and target plinking. So anyway to make a long story longer is there a big difference between the benelli slug barrel and the Ithaca?

Been trying to purchase a cantilever rifled slug barrel for my Nova Pump. Been to a couple dealers listed on the Benelli site and one basically told me they could not order it and the other said the cantilever barrel was not available for my Nova. Also they were talking around $400 for a slug barrel, I guess my question now is would it be cheaper to buy a new Nova in a kit with both barrels? Sounds stupid to me but the MSRP on the Beneli site unless I misunderstand is less than $600 for a new gun with both barrels.

Getting ready to order a rifled cantilever barrel for my Nova pump for the up coming Deer gun season in late November here in Ohio. I have hunted deer in the past with my Springfield 1911 Long Slide 45 and had never used my Nova because I didnt want to run slugs through the normal barrel. Anyway finally going to break down and get the right slug barrel for it and Im wondering if anyone has some suggestions for a good scope would spend up to $300 on a scope and mounts. Also since I will be getting a rifled slug barrel what seems to be the general feeling on the best slug on the market. On my families farm where I hunt in southern Ohio we have about 20 acres of woods with a couple cricks running through them but its also alot of open ground so having the ability to reach out over 100 yards could be the difference in getting a shot at a great buck and having to settle for what ever I can get a shot on. This is why I want to spend the money for a rifled barrel. I appreciate any input need to get this stuff ordered soon so I have lots of time to dial it in and get comfortable with how it shoots November 26th is opening day.
